This is what I ended up with
The Garmin I already had. The mount came off of eBay. I had to pack the mount out to make it fit the mirror stalk. For that I modified a gear change rubber off a Harley Davidson that I had in stores.

It has been working very well and stayed dry. The picture makes the phone look huge. Really the phone is tooked away neatly behind the screen.
I haven't managed to solve the problem with glare yet, I'll have to make a soft hood to shade it, I had some left over neoprene I was going to use but I can't find since my last tidy up blitzkrieg
