I like foam filters, but prefer the more sophisticated and cheaper RamAir option, buy a sheet and trim it yourself, I did two scoots from one piece.Brimma wrote:Brisk AOR12LGS now ordered

This has two densities so have to fit it the right way around.

Thanks, I take it cutting is quite easy using the original as a template (I'm not very technical, as you can see)poldark wrote: I like foam filters, but prefer the more sophisticated and cheaper RamAir option, buy a sheet and trim it yourself, I did two scoots from one piece.

Well I managed it so it can't be that hard!Brimma wrote:Thanks, I take it cutting is quite easy using the original as a template (I'm not very technical, as you can see)poldark wrote: I like foam filters, but prefer the more sophisticated and cheaper RamAir option, buy a sheet and trim it yourself, I did two scoots from one piece.

RamAir
It'd clearly be easier if they made specific ones but it cuts easily with scissors. It's a dry item, so no messing about with oiling.
As you say use the old one as a template, I just made sure I allowed too much and then trimmed carefully to ensure there's sideways pressure on the airbox to hold it in place, though I think most Piaggio units have plastic "pins" on the outer half to hold things neatly.
I did an X9 250 and SH125 from a single piece, for a fiver. Apart from being cheaper this stuff is more efficient so allows greater airflow and is washable and reusable, that's gotta be better than paying out regularly for paper filters.

Which way round does it go?

Re: Polini Maxi Hi-Speed variator
The denser material (darker colour) goes "engine-side", so the larger portion, which is less dense gets the airflow first.
Sort of logical but I did call them to check anyway.

If there's two ways of doing something you can guarantee I'd do it wrongpoldark wrote:The denser material (darker colour) goes "engine-side", so the larger portion, which is less dense gets the airflow first.

Re: Polini Maxi Hi-Speed variator
I doubt I'll be able to pin it down as to exactly what has done what to be honest
I'm hoping it's going to go from standard to having Dr Pulleys, Brisk spark plug and Ram Air filter in one fell swoop
She's quick enough standard, so with those fitted it should be fantastic, and hopefully a lot smoother
