Nice(ish) gesture, albeit for spends over £250 which is a lot. Get Geared are a decent company. However, being a cynic, does this imply that Get Geared's mark-ups are so high as to make this viable for them???

Of course they are you are right to be a cynic. I have just purchased a new suit in the sales, £100 off. Nice buy but it just shows what the normal mark up is, its the ugly side of capitalism. Its why I as a matter of principle will not buy Apple products, made by almost slave labour in China and sold at huge retail prices, hence Apples sky high profits.

According to MCN

J&S have bought 12 HG stores.

Confusingly the list includes the Leeds store which I thought didn't get reopened after the last closure, and J&S already have a store across the road anyway!

So why have J&S bought the Leeds store if they already have a store across the road? The one they have is quite big - bigger than the HG store was. Maybe the lease is cheaper or something.
I do keep meaning to get to the GetGeared store (I buy some things from them online), but I don't often visit Leeds, except occasionally for work and then I'm always in a hurry to get to the station for the dodgy TransPennine service back home!

Excellent news if J&S have bought out HG. At least they seem willing to discount and have reasonable prices from the outset!

Not been in a J&S store yet, so I will do once the Farnborough store gets rid of its HG image. I always found HG unfriendly to women, so I went elsewhere.

I used to buy HG gear but in the last 10 years their stuff has really dropped in quality. Quite a few people i know have turned away from them because of this, so maybe they just weren't doing the volumes anymore?

It appears, that HG (Germany) believes to have a future.
Situations offered for 14 (of 64 overall in Germany) facilities in Aachen, Berlin, Böblingen, Erfurt, Friedrichshafen, Hannover, Heilbronn, Köln, Mannheim, München-Haidhausen, Nürnberg, Rosenheim, Schwäbisch-Hall and Trier.
