I still reckon with the Sym 600 you will hit the `sweet spot`... as long as it's not too lumpy (600 single about the limit without balancers and vibration dampers). Torque low-revving single probably the best match to a conventional CVTs

The sweet spot for weight is I think around 150kg - none of the bigger maxis get near that.
Heavier is not necessarily worse, but you do lose that nice light manageable feel.

Having said that my X10 will weight 200kg plus but the trade off there is motorway cruising comfort.

Yes with more power you actual benefit from a bit more weight when going fast. I wouldn't want to do 70-80 for any real distance on a bike weighing just 150kg's. It will be very jittery and tiring. My Burgman is well planted with it's 227kg weight at those speeds. Very comfy.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Been riding for 55 years & owned too many bikes to list here...

I'd disagree with that. My Satelis 250's are quoted as 160kgs and I have done a few trips of a couple of hours plus with no trouble. Well, except that it would too easily hit the rev limiter.

My 156kg Joyride 200 will sit at 115km/h all day with perfect stability.
In fact recently I used it on an airport run with pillion, cabin bag between my knees/feet, 45minutes each way, two round trips, no problems at all.

ETA: Oh and my 185kg GTS300 will sit at 130km/h all day with perfect stability too.

Sounds like the Burgman has 2 bags of sand it doesn't need tucked away somewhere ;)

It's great to use our scoots for the airport run, free parking right by the terminal. Have a good time, and careful what you eat;-)

Have you thought about fitting Dr Pulley sliders?
Both my scooters used to get to the redline with plenty of power left so I put in heavier Dr Pulleys and now cruise much more easily and get to much higher speeds. Low speed pull-away is still good thanks to the Dr Pulleys, as they fit into the corners of the variator better so you get a wider gearing range.

No, I haven't. I'll see how the J300 goes, but I suspect it will have a more than adequate to speed for my needs.
