Let's hope they arrive where iam before long, the local dealer is supposed to let me know when they come in. Iam changing my bike this year, up to now iam thinking of going for another Silverwing. I have changed most things on my current bike and do my own servicing. In july i will have had my current bike for four years and have done 48,000ml on it. The Sym will need to very good to compare with the Silverwing as, price wise, there is not a lot in it. :)

Well spent a productive day as you do when you get a new bike  Fitted my Ram mount and wired in the sat nav and optimiser cable. Puncture safe in the tyres and then a run along the coast to show my friend at the Yamaha dealer in Worthing. Brighton seafront was liked a car park which was good because I got to see how it handled in very heavy traffic and I was well impressed. I intend to go up to London more now that I am retired so I did not want it to be a problem in traffic. They were all impressed at the Yamy dealer, eat your heart out Tmax. I then took myself off to Waitrose, Asda did not seem fitting somehow. Came out to find a middle age couple giving it the once over, they thought it was beautiful, will have to watch that don't want it getting a big head. I stoped for petrol and what do I discover it as an anti overfill valve in the filler neck (which is a nice touch). Well done SYM no mention of that in the handbook or the fact that you can adjust the wind shield (I had to teach the dealer). If I go on that factory trip I am going to raise the issue of their appalling hand books with them. A nice run home along the coast its already starting to loosen up a little and I am having to control myself because I so much want to wind out that throttle. I don't know if its because of the increased weight of the swing arm but the rear suspension absorbs the bumps far better than the 400 the ride is really very comfortable. SYM must have redesigned the centre stand because it is just so much easier than the one on the 400. Overall I am liking the big auto

michaelphillips wrote:Well lad, your new companion will be abso...lutly brill, treat her well  i am sure that i am not alone in wishing you well, take it steady and watch that engine braking as i suppose its wicked, can catch you out on the slow corners :D enjoy your weekend riding, you got the scoot at the best time, you will still feel that you miss the 400 bit as soon a you look at the 600 a big grin will ease it completely.. safe ridin :D
The engine braking is impressive I find I am hardly touching the brakes, it also feels like it could stay upright without you putting your feet down when stationary, not that I will try it.

Badly written user manuals are annoying. Some companies have even let a Maxi-muppet write them!

People often take them as gospel, straight from the horses mouth and won't be advised against what they say so they can do real damage.
Luckily you've got a brain so it isn't a problem but it makes such a difference when the same care goes into the manual as went into the rest of the bike.
