Re: JCosta on Tmax 530
The j Costa is a nice piece of kit but does not produce enough gains for the purchase price especially when compared to DR Pulley sliders etc . I would get a Dr pulley HIT clutch instead .

Re: JCosta on Tmax 530
not sure if they do a hit clutch not listed in their catalogue, i wonder if anyone tried the polini variator as that has 12 rollers and you can get dr pulley weights for that or Dr.Pulley Tuning Sportvario for tmax530 with weights its around 270 euros

I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

Re: JCosta on Tmax 530
Most of the people with t max 500 on the French site use Dr pulley s in a standard variator but have the pulley angle machined ,which really works well .You can get machined pulleys from scoot fusion . The HIT clutch was fitted to some max,s on the site and was so adjustable that you could if it rocked your boat set it to pull wheelies lol . I spoke to a chap who's fitted one to his srv and he can't rave about it enough especially at take off and also claims it's faster at the top .

The acceleration throughout the range and from any speed was very impressiveMrGrumpy wrote:This also suggests why fitting a J Costa or something to a 530 that lets it rev more may not produce a lot of benefit.

Will be soon fitting the Polini Evo 3 with Dr.Pulley sliders and polini 8.3gr rollers to my mk3.
Pulley rollers weren't recommended for this vario.

If the OP hadn't have been told by the dealer (or the original seller hadn't informed the dealer), the OP would be none the wiser regarding any hidden modifications so entirely plausible.

Paddle harder. I can hear banjo music!

Got the tmax yesterday. First thing I did was to put the db killer back on.
The bike is noticeably faster on full throttle. The speed needle has trouble to keep up. The downside is too many revs which results in too much noise. It might be faster than before but it sounds slower if that makes any sense. It tries so hard that you kind of expect it to go fast.
Accelerate slowly up to 40mph and it sounds a lot, even then. It feels like the tmax transformed from a mature fast maxi to a faster 2-stroke Gilera Runner FXR wannabe.
I like the speed. The rest not so much. I will evaluate a few more days and decide if I'm going to keep it or if I'm going to go back to stock vario with Dr.pulley weights/sliders.

Re: JCosta on Tmax 530
yes the polini variator weights are only 7.5 gms each and there are 12 of them making 90 gms
you need to do the calculation on the dr pulleys to see the gross roller weight. then see if the polini stock weights are too light, as you probably fitted the contra spring, the rollers are not gripping the belt, or you may be getting a little belt spin.. if you can find out the standard stock weight of combined rollers and post,

I'm using the 8.3gr set. Don't really get what you tell me to do though. :/
I think I did fit the spring you say. The blue one in the pic.
