If your cutting across to Sevenoaks, instead of using the Dartford crossing you could just as easy go on to Bexley & hang a left onto the A2 at Bexleyheath, then after a couple of miles turn right onto the South Circular & have a nice ride over the river on the Woolwich ferry, that way you get a bonus view of the Thames barrier on the left. There is of course the added bonus, the ferry is FREE

Another thing to bear in mind (if you are not already aware) the toll booths at the crossing are now unmanned & left open, this is does not mean it is free to use (there is a new pre-payment system in force) loads of peeps are getting caught out, for more info please see ... https://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/c ... harge.html & for the horror story ... http://www.harlowstar.co.uk/350-000-fin ... story.html

I use it a lot to visit my brother, free for bikes and I have an account for the car (which if you use it a few times a year works out much cheaper. If you open a car choose manual top ups rather than automatic ones ).
