MotoGB? In that case I am most definitely not having a Burgman!

Yes but the 650 hasn't been made for years.

Is there any make of scooter I could get parts for in a reasonable time? Now I have ruled out anything Italian (including Honda as their entire scooter range is made there), Sym as they are imported by MotoGB and now Suzuki for the same reason. I would very much like to go Japanese, which only leaves Yamaha. How about Kymco? Anyone know what the parts situation is with those?

Otherwise I think the only solution is to have a new scooter of any make every three years. Which shouldn't be long enough for anything to wear out and need replacing. And keep my fingers crossed and hope nothing else goes or I have a spill and need replacement body panels.

If it was the same with cars there would be a right uproar!

I don't think anybody has mentioned Royal Alloy yet, but I doubt they are any better.

Never had any problem with Yamaha parts, either through dealers or via Fowlers, or even through easyparts.nl. The latter are a good source of parts, including aftermarket alternatives for a wide variety of scoots.

Lord knows about Kymco - they aren't imported by MotoGB, but the people who do seem pretty incompetent. Finding a real functioning dealer is the first difficulty!

Even the main dealer said two to three weeks for a supercub chain . Ordered a DID gold chain on ebay that came a few days later.

Two to three weeks I can put up with. It's two to three months I object to. But at least with something like a chain you can get aftermarket ones. Should be much the same with things like bearings. With more specialised parts you are at the mercy of the importer.

I might well consider a Yamaha then. An XMax 300 probably. The TMax is out - a lot more power than I need, too heavy and the seat height is too high. Which combined with the weight could cause me real problems as I have short legs (29 inch inside leg). And it's too expensive. The seat on the XMax is really too high for me, but at least the weight is manageable. I would consider another Forza if they were made in Japan not Italy.

As for easyparts.nl, I will have a look at their website. They may even have this elusive gasket I am after!
