I know what you mean Data, I worked in retails of Comet for 19 years around 15 of which I was a branch manager. Some days I couldn't do right for doing wrong. The customer is always right is absolute bollocks, mostly they are out of touch with reality! The amount if simple minded people I came into contact with was astounding, for example I once had a bloke screaming at me because he'd bought a chrome toaster and it was blue when he got it home. We didn't sell blue toasters in those days. It was simply the protective plastic film that needed removing! I knew this but made him fetch it back to the shop so I could humiliate him in person as he'd been such a twat on the phone to me. Little victories are sweet!

Very true, but it reminds me of one of my favourite pastimes, sea fishing.
Hereabouts you can catch big fish on big 6/0 hooks and baits but you can catch many more fish with smaller 2/0 hooks and baits.
Same idea applies with speedos, if the model has an mph speedo it will appeal to a wider audience.

Gents, somehow I still think you are missing the point over KMH and MPH speedos.
Yes you most certainly do get use it (I've had several KMH machines myself), but the point I do find annoying is that SYM already do MPH speedos anyway so why not fit them to UK machines....it's as simple as that really. If they supply them for one market they can fit them for another.

The simplest solution I would have tnought is to have a digital speedo where the user can select mph or kmph. I would think that's a cheaper option? My L1 Burgman 650 has that feature but the new L3/L4 B650 has reverted back to analogue dials!
I wonder if they could design a dialled speedo where the digital surface graduations could be changed?

Wouldn't even need to be a digital display or change of graduations on an analogue.
Modern analogue speedos and digital speedos are both electric, there's no spinning cable drive these days.
(more's the pity)
So its perfectly possible, simple even, to build an analogue speedo with a single fixed numerical scale and where the units are described have a small indicator which shows whether MPH or KPH is selected.
Either a small LCD panel set into the dial capable of showing MPH or KPH or have two LEDs, one beside MPH the other beside KPH on the dial face.
There you go Mr Sym, a simple idea from a simple man who likes his speedos simple.

BTW, the Lexmoto Vienna 125 (RRP £almost free) has a digital speedo switchable between mph and kph.

I think this is possibly my new favourite Taiwalian 125

Its not.
But then as you have told us, neither is everything with a Sym badge on it.
Taiwalian is just a word I made up for all the scoots from the far east with Italian sounding names or styling.
