Re: Dunkirk 24th March 2012
Thanks Mike for the tour (even getting lost) was nice to meet you.
I say again: I had a great day and enjoyed meeting you all - the Belgians have the habit of closing roads without telling anyone; I really must learn what 'Road Closed' is in Dutch!
I'm sure heading South in France and into Spain is very good but Belgium has the Ardennes - great roads for riding and beautiful scenery - and Germany is close, too.
In 2010, Ed and I stayed near Koblenz and rode along the Moselle Valley (had to keep moving - the weather was so hot) and over the hills to the Rhine Valley.

I'll second that Mike!Waldorf wrote:

If you can guarantee the weather we had in France and Belgium last weekend, it would be perfect riding anywhere.
I know it was cool first thing in the mornings but I don't like it much warmer during the day.
I nearly fried in Antwerp a few years ago in July. And even had to take my jacket off when riding round trying to find my hotel.
Which wasn't very sensible when I thought about it afterwards.

Third time in France on two wheels for me. Next scooter trip is to the Picos de Europa in Spain in June. (Two weeks of twisties and mountain scenery - heaven).Meldrew wrote:Was this the first time any of the Ugly Bunch had been abroad on a bike or scooter ? Happy to report that no one rode on the wrong side of the road. Although I did catch myself sometimes looking over my left shoulder (as well as looking up the road) when turning left. Usually when stopped in the crown of the road.
Cheers,

It was my first time riding abroad and I would do it again, in a pack it's easy but even on my own I think you just need to think a little before each junction/roundabout. lol. Can't wait for the next ugly bunch holiday.Meldrew wrote:Was this the first time any of the Ugly Bunch had been abroad on a bike or scooter ? I went to Brittany two years ago on my honda cb1300 which I thought was a lot nicer than Dunkirk, but I enjoyed this trip more, a right good laugh, the places we visited in Belgium, and the company,
