That about somes it up for me too.Mr Angry wrote:As I've said here before if a cager can knock me off while riding a lemon yellow maxi scooter with twin dipped headlights on and a very bright orange Hi-viz jacket it matters not a jot what you wear if they ain't looking.
I choose not wear hi-viz nowadays (Assuming I ride again that is).

Re: Dayglo Knobbers
i wouldnt be too happy if hi viz was made compulsory..... there would be times when you didnt want to wear it in high summer.... and i wouldnt want the h+s gestapo to have yet another reason to allocate me 3 points on licence....
but if one likes wearing hi viz good luck to them.... the fellers on the all black race rep..with black clothing helmet and dark visor look total bell end's....
but....ma scoot (x8) looks similar its dark coloured and i wear a dark jacket an ma helmet is black..i prob look just as silly as the fashion biker..
i hate being on the road during school run times....9 out of 10 of em are late and are harrangued by ratty kids in the back that have been up all night on computer, and they are rushing whilst texting sandra to meet em in tesco for a coffee an shopping... its scary just how many drivers are on mobile and they dont look for bikes..let alone where they are going.. a high viz just might avoid an accident with a numpty driver......
they aint looking for YOU...... ya gotta avoid THEM.......

What is a fashion biker these days? Is it the power ranger with his multi coloured leathers and back hump, or what?

Re: Dayglo Knobbers
thats what i see as a fashion biker.... the fairweather crotch rocket biker... all the gear no idea... summer only, and the odd winter afternoon if its sunny..
good luck to em...but they know very little about biking other than what they have read in mcn.... they look down on anyone who hasnt got a race rep... dont know how to fix their toy if it breaks... and cry unfairness when they get tugged doin 140 or for a loud pipe or tiny number plate.... straight line coffee shop merchants..... bolt on goodie enthusiasts...lol.....

I'm glad to say I no longer find any enjoyment riding when the weather's Shite. Been there and done that many moons ago and I don't want to go back there again.
Now which cafe should I go to this afternoon.....

I did my Bikesafe on a hot day and the instructor was very jealous that I had a cool jacket while he had to wear a leather with a hi-viz on top because their H&S said he had to even though he and his mates weren't convinced it did any good.

i sure sound like a grunpy old git goin on about other types of bike riders..... i would prob be riding a race rep if i was still in my mid 20's...or rather doing moto-x again.....
but there is defo a breed of numpty biker...i was coming back from deep in kent after a trial other weekend...it was sunny and i saw easily 10 of the latest fireblades out for a spin plus loads of other sportbikes....whapping down the local bypass at 100+ then bore their pals silly tellin em about it.. i have friends on facebook...and they are absolutely frothing at the mouth waiting to do the annual mayday run on their sport bike...praying for good weather..just to ride london to hastings.... whooperdy doo..... lol.... and they are calling it...'the start of the season' ..? what season..? didnt know there was one..?

Re: Dayglo Knobbers
But it IS the start of the season of reasonable weather that power rangers find it acceptable to ride in... thing is they are all out there pretending to be a 'Rossi' or who ever, yet they first cloud or spot of rain on their shiney new bike and leathers and they shy away yet their role model flies around a track covered in water when it pissing it down with rain... that I do not get.
