tis all bollorx....... most blokes get into a social group and are scared to think their own thoughts...

had it all week this week parking ma x8 on site... how fast is it...why dya ride that ... why dont you get a real bike etc etc....

they shut up a bit when i tell em 70+ mpg.... one particular chap getin an r1 in next week or so...all he talks about is how fast he rode here,or how fast he went there....soo boring.....

i told him id ridden a few crotch rockets just ride's on ma brothers bikes when he owned them...and i knew i didnt want to own one then... the zx9 was flippin animal of a bike...but totally pointless on the road....

i told him id also ridden a 2000 fireblade which was a lovely bike... he said...aw...they shake their head over 165mph.....lol.... what a knob...

i can go for a ride on my sons gsxr750 anytime i desire...but i have never ridden it..even sitting on it does the wrists in...

i get my 2 wheeled thrills dirt riding mainly trials... and i really enjoy road riding on my scoot...

The thing is that in countries like Italy, France and the rest of the Mediterranean the classification "biker" is nowhere near as important or used. People don't give a damn if you have a scooter, a Goldwing or a car as long as it gets you from one place to the other.

It's like in England and Sweden when it comes to cars. If you have a Volvo you are not going to hail someone in a Ford just because he is a motorist too.

A couple of blokes in the office were having a chat about their bikes. As I passed, they said "you commute on a bike, don't you? What does yours do?".

"Oh, about 90", I said, and then added "to the gallon..."

My bike is the perfect tool for what I use it for: commuting. They were commuting on 1000 and 1300 bikes = not really optimised for what they were doing.

Thats the thing im considering at the moment, commuting or riding, I was thinking of the Crosstourer 1200 DCT at £185 PM on PCP, but I only go 3-4 miles to work and the odd sunday run and odd race days to Oulton Park , or spend over the top on a srv 850, Think you can still get GP800's new for £6900.
Anyway, back to MCN talk ;)

i pity the fashion biker that over the years ...has been groomed by the MCN and various other sportbike magazines into thinking they actually need a 180+ bhp missile...and they are wimps if they havent done a 150mph down a bypass or had their knee down...lol...

if you look back at test reports from magazines or the mcn...back from the 70's.... through the years to the present...they are all pretty similar article's..its just the bike is newer...

i found an old report on a kawasaki gpz900s once.... class leader when it came out...groundbreaking...does 150mph etc...can win a club race straight out the crate etc.... as could the laverda jota before that...and no doubt the one before that...

that gpz900s today you would laugh at it... a 600 would better it in every department.... the mcn also made me smile, for years it was preaching "fireblade" ..

fireblade this...fireblade that..Zzzzzzzzzzz.......you can tour on it etc.... and it has been a bloody good bike through the years... but...

soon as the "r1" came along.... an was probably 4 mph quicker.... it was firewhat..? firewho? overnight forgotten... i dont even know what one is tops now..or care... the sportbike has taken us down a dead end.... the bikes are becoming too fast for the tracks now let alone the roads...

scooting has put the smile and fun factor back into roadbiking for me...my x8 handles like a pig when i try to push on a bit.... but i kinda like it..! :D

The best riders are fast on anything.
Which is why Casey Stoner won a Moto GP title on a Ducati and no-one else has come anywhere close to repeating it.

I've had a couple but prefer scooters, my choice, so why does it upset so many people. Also hate people that say If I had a bike it would be a Gixxer! Twat's don't even have a bike licence!! Oop's sound like I'm having a wee rant too!!
Mac ....Im with you all the way i love motor cycles and scoots i wont ride it or own it if i dont like it ! there a re a lot of shit for brains out there ! there are the riders out there who will nod to you and the others that dont. ...like every one out there you will allways have the haters or lovers ...went past a group of chopper riders from a uuumm have to be carefull with this one a certain club. not one nodded to me. maybe the fact that my tmax looked too black for them and with its load custom parts and rumbling gpr pipe . maybe they were too cool to nod or just thought look at that twat on a want to be race bike ...? the fact remains i dont want to be like the rest of them out there ! i get shit of the italian scooter ludites ...but what the fuck ....its no ugly duckling and no slouch holding its own with others .....so i say FUCK EM ALL..!

 This has got me thinking...

Imagine IF MCN realised there's a massive group of potential readers who are constantly being 'put off' with short sighted, egotistical, sometimes non-factual (especially MPG) bullshit.

What could MCN do to encourage 8-) people like 'us'?

MPG, MPH, comfort, seat height, wind protection, rain protection, how good are the brakes, lights, weight, servicing intervals, fuel tank capacity and distance travelled/litres used etc.

Proper :ugeek: road tests.

Acceleration: 0-30mph, 0-60mph, 30-70mph?

Stopping distances?

:? What d'ya think?

What would you like to know? :P
