Do you ride all year round?

I re-read your review on these keis gloves and thinking of giving them a try next winter. The only worry i have is you mentioned gloves not having heating elements on fingertips, and fingertips are the biggest issue in cold weather. How did your fingertips cope in cold weather compared to other parts of your hands?

They run around the edges, so if you place your hand on a table, and run a finger around it - it's that part that is heated.

I can bring them into work if you want a try/look - and you can squeeze your giant mutant hands into them...

I do ride all year round,ice and snow excepted, although I have been caught out on the odd cold sunny winters morning by patchy black ice, lets just say hitting a patch of black ice at 40 mph on a moors road doesnt half generate the squeaky bum syndrome. My commute is double the distance what you cover, around 40 miles. Its basically just a case of keeping your machine clean and regularly serviced and everything is normally hunky dory, and gear wise, Ive found the Aldi gear quite sufficient. The only thing is my fingertips are a little on the cold side on arrival at work/home.

I do ride in all parts of the year,weather permitting, but not day in day out........if the weather is crap, there's always the bus pass or the senior railcard!

Snow and ice again are the only thing that defeat me. Been out a couple of times when the weather has caught me out while at work and it can be a bit hairy. Revert to the bus in these conditions which keeps the wife happy. Dropped the scoot in work car park in the cold of 2011 after taking it off the stand and discovering I was stood on a puddle of ice and just lost my footing with the weight of the scoot. Weird scenario of it dropping in almost slow motion as I realised my feet were going and there was no way I was going to get it back up again or back on the stand without completely changing my position. Amused my workmates though!

I have fairly cheap kit and find that layering up is the way to go generally - was amazed at the difference a Cold killers neck thingy made. I have always suffered with cold fingers and misting visor, so this year am getting a pinlock helmet (probably a Caberg Duke) and bar muffs to avoid those problems.

I used too, now I live where I work so bikes are much more of a weekend hobby!

yes I ride all year round-I have also been doing this for around six years - this will be my first winter with heated grips

All day all year since my scoot is my main mean of transportation
Of course the weather helps a lot since it rain not so often and the cold is not that of a problem a good jacket gloves and a neck warmer + a full rain suit under the seat and you are fine

Ice and snow

its hard enough with 4 wheels so unless you are totally amazing and made of rubber i don't see the point in risking it on a bike.

Also as good as you may be there will beck load of idiots in cars that may take you out.

I ride from march up until they start gritting the roads. After that i use train or buy a banger to get me through winter, which i then sell again when i start riding bike again.
