Both my Sym's have kill switches - I always switch the engine off with them.gn2 wrote:I think these absurd sidestand and brake switches are an utterly pointless pain in the arse.
Just something extra to go wrong and what's worse they don't even do anything useful.
A handlebar mounted kill switch is actually useful but does my scooter have one?
Nope, just the annoying pull the brake to start the scooter nonsense.
My SYM Joyride didn't have a side-stand switch but had an extra spring - making the side stand a bit useless so I took the entire sidestand off.
The sidestand switch is so you do not forget to put the stand up when you set off, the many fatalities and serious injuries (I know someone who lost a leg) due to the sidestand are enough for me. The GTS300 has a sidestand switch which works well.
The brake switch is there because a scooter is always in-gear.
Start it up with a bit of throttle and it's off straight away, at least with your hand on the brake you have a chance of catching it!!
