Re: MCN today T Max mk 4 V GT 650 BMW
I tried the Beemer before I bought the 530, it's a very good scooter, it's got more cubes so it's got a bit more chug. The seating position was good, build quality ok but not as good as the Tmax, I've mentioned before about an issue with the steering lock (pointed out by the salesman). My problem at the time was there was no negotiating on the price and a poor offer on my Mk3 Tmax, making it in my opinion ridiculously expensive at nearly £10.5K with heated bits. I can't say say I'm too happy at the price of a new 530 but hey. For me the 530 was £2k cheaper (and I've fitted heated grips). Now my 530 is run in (I've ridden it through the winter) it's great, compared to the Mk3, it's accelerates faster, is lighter, is better balanced especially 2 up, bit sharper handling, sound better, Mrs is much happier on the back. I don't think it needs to go to 750 with the extra weight that would entail, it's plenty fast enough for me. If I'd bought the Beemer I would probably singing it's praises but I can't see how I would enjoy it more and I'd have spent a lot more dosh.

I'm following your actions for broadly the same reasons! And Hopefully I'll like the mk4 as much as you do! I never got to negotiations about a BMW - there were good things about the C600 when I rode it, but it really didn't blow me away...and if you are spending £10k, it ought to!Jedburgh wrote:I tried the Beemer before I bought the 530, it's a very good scooter, it's got more cubes so it's got a bit more chug.. Have they sold as many as four to real customers?Bluebottle wrote:From where I am sitting I can see............................................ BMW's scooter sales figures
I am surprised.
There's a few used ones for sale on Bike Trader but they mostly look suspiciously like ex-demonstrators.

I saw one parked up off Regent Street last night. Grey, looked quite smart and stood out in the motorcycle bay. I think I've maybe only seen one other. Not seen a Tmax 530 at all though and only one X10.
I'd have thought it unlikely there were many retailed bikes being moved on yet so I would expect the ones in the ads to be pretty much all demonstrators or pre-reg.

Exactly! I enjoyed the demo ride but when I got back on my Mk3 afterwards I thought was that really £5.5k better? which is what it would have cost me to change. The TMAX motor was like a turbine compared to the BMW, the Beemer was better in most areas compared to the Mk3 but not worth that much, and certainly not 2 grand better than the 530.MrGrumpy wrote:

I really struggled to find a 530 when I got mine in October, but I was told at the time that another batch was due into the UK about now.
