Is this not the same as maybe an appendix can be diseased but there is not a disease call appendicitis?

Just wondered that all
Heamorroids are not normal like an appendix. They are enlarged blood vessels, just varicose veins of the bum. If normal there are no heamorroids.

“They are enlarged blood vessels, just varicose veins of the bum. If normal there are no heamorroids” – This is what I always thought and then the darn internet comes along and proffers so much information that I get confused.

I pinched this from a web site ‘ Clinics in Colon Rectal Surgery’

Hemorrhoids are highly vascular submucosal cushions that generally lie along the anal canal in three columns—the left lateral, right anterior, and right posterior positions. These vascular cushions are made up of elastic connective tissue and smooth muscle, but because some do not contain muscular walls, these cushions may be considered sinusoids instead of arteries or veins. Clinically evident bleeding arises from the perisinusoidal arterioles and are therefore arterial in nature. Hemorrhoids play a significant physiologic role in protecting the anal sphincter muscles and augment closure of the anal canal during moments of increased abdominal pressure (e.g., coughing, sneezing) to prevent incontinence and contribute 15 to 20% of the resting anal canal pressure. Increases in abdominal pressure increase the pressure in the inferior vena cava that cause these vascular cushions to engorge and prevent leakage. This tissue is also thought to help differentiate stool, liquid, and gas in the anal canal.

Having no knowledge of how my internals work and after reading this, which seems to imply they should be there as they have a role to play in the passage of poo, it seems the more knowledge I am given the less I know – no change there then. :?

This is the most important thing they are useful of i think. Next time someone farts or shits themselves while sneezing, i'll make remarks about their heamorroids.

On a side note, reading about liquids oozing out of anal region while eating a couple of toffee muffins i just heated in microwave was a very interesting experience :D

Ever since I mentioned a certain ailment when having a polite pop at Meldrew's bedside manor I now seem to have an itch I can't get rid of. Serves me right.

I wonder if the original poster has ever revisited after starting this fracas?

So there you have it. Someone appears on the forum and gets abuse and bang goes another member. How many others have been put off by this sort of thing. The Forum posters who delight in making snide comments should just "f**k off and get their own site and leave the rest of us to get on with it. I am normally someone who says live and let live and each to their own, but this is stupid. The very first point of contact and its abusive. I talk to every Maxi Rider I come across and recommend the forum. I have personal experience of people taking a look and going Whoa no way.

Cue for more snide comments. Lets see - I bet theres one that says something along the lines of "You've only been on here two minutes" or the ever popular " this is what the Muppets is about". Maybe an attitude of "if those that look and don't like it, they can just F**k off", might not be the best thing to have if you want the forum to thrive - as I do. Its an attitude that indicates that the true interest of the poster is in simply being nasty for its own sake.

To which I answer thus. My posts seem to attract a pretty good readership and interest. My ride outs and meets attract a good level of support. I think I contribute more than some, (with the key word being contribute there).

And I do not accept that is what the Muppets is about. It might be what it's degenerated into but from the archive the Muppets were more active, more social, more apparently friendly and welcoming. So what's gone wrong? Look at the posts on this thread and make your own mind up.

In my considered opinion anyone who acts against the basic principles of the forum should be barred. Simple as that. These people are spoiling it for the normal (ish). The administrators should take action to rescue the forum.

Lets be clear - there is a difference between light hearted banter and daftness and sheer bloody mindedness. Its the latter that I think we should all object to.

If if that is a reference to me Gerard C and I'm sure it is please let me remind you that I came out of hiding behind a screen in June. We both went on the Help for Heroes/Black Rat Run to Catterick. I booked my place in early January, and you as part of a group only a couple of weeks before the run and only after it was mentioned on here. So a quick play with a Route Finder shows that...

We both rode to Squires at Sherburn-in-Elmet to register, I'd already rode over from Cumbria via York to pick up Mrs M before riding to Squires, a distance of 155 miles to your 12 from Wakefield. The ride up to Catterick was another 55 miles back to where I'd gone past only a few hours before. We later met up at the Manor Cafe that's another 14 miles, and after we went our separate ways I rode on to Ripon and later back to York about another 50. That's 274 miles and a lot more than you clocked up that day. Would you have even attended that run if you'd had to ride there alone?

The following day I got the Hull ferry to Rotterdam for a short solo touring break in Thuringia in Eastern Germany, after which I returned to York then back to Cumbria. So I don't need any incentive to get out and ride at home or away, and the "Lone Wolf" approach you are so dismissive of works for me and lot's of others. What the Leper reference is about I've no idea.
Mr Meldrew - is that an attack on me? It seems like it. I don't have anything but respect for your riding exploits. I think if you look at any of my posts that mention you in any way I have said as much. Far from being dismissive of any Lone Wolf rider, I admire their spirit, but surely you, of all people are not sensitive to a perceived slight "pop", you can't be as you are so free with your vitriol towards others, insensitive to any impact your comments may have and the cumalative corrosive effect a negative attitude can have, (not to mention the damage it does to our forum). It must be pointed out that you have said you deliberately chose your "Meldrew" identity because it reflects your personality. Therefore it's natural to suspect that your motivation for posts you make is, perhaps, not completely altruistic.

My dear old Mum always said "that if you can't say anything nice, keep your F**king gob shut"! A wise woman in so many ways. Its advice I fear you won't take.

By the way, on the day of the Help for Hero's ride, we went on and covered many more miles. Who ever said we went there and straight home again? Oh and I ride every day when possible. Rain or shine. I have just completed my IAM advanced training and test. To do that you put in the miles every week to a consistant standard. I don't feel I have to prove anything to anyone much less you. We are not in competiton as far as I know, and as for riding with friends - do you have a choice? Only asking.

Just a note, I have to go in to hospital tomorrow to have some work done inside not that you need to know this but the point I would like to make is that sometimes in life ‘stuff’ happens and then there is no time to make amends.

So if we could all just get along even if it means being the bigger man and not bothering who ‘wins’ the contest of having the last word.
Maybe close this thread or leave it open but sealed so nothing else can be added.

Just my thoughts before it goes too far
