I dont think its a case of being anal, basicaly if you look after your scoot it should last longer than one that isnt looked after, its not rocket science, cosmetically, some people like to keep a showroom appearence to their scoots, Im sure they know it wont make them more reliable, and Im sure they dont do it purely for future value, it just makes it look nice!! and a lot of people like it that way , me included.

I gave my Silverwing a good clean before I sold it it looked lovely I always thought it was a darker colour till I cleaned it .LOL

yes I did julian, cheeky tom does it to every gts he sends out as a part of his PDI, the dealer I got it from dont do it so I did. Treating a metal bodied scoot with anti rust spray in the winter, whats anal about that??????????

Did you have glove box and floor out or just spray thro holes .Im having floor out on mine as its an 04 and keeping it and dont know if its been done

the 200's fair better than the 250/300's, but the battery tray in the floor and the inner seam ( about halfway down the inner legshield) tend to hold water and rust from the inside out, if your keeping it julian , Id defo strip the lot and either dinnitrol/waxoil/acf-50 the lot, theres a video on how to strip it somewhere on the modern vespa forum, but I did it so it cant be that hard. When youve put it back together, GIVE IT A WASH !!!,

Do you get any icing after you hosed it or condensation in your garage?

When it is really cold I can't seem to get mine dry but maybe I'm just being last and talking myself into an excuse for not doing it

after hosing it down mark leave it running for a while, the heat off the engine helps the drying process.
