Hi.michaelphillips wrote:you lost me on this question, if you mean the plastic cover that is on the front on the transmission silver casing cover (the first cover you get off with four philips screws - two at front before the plastic cover and two at rear) that is held on to the silver casing, by 3 or 4 small screws, they are mounted behind it when you take the silver cover off, yet there is no need to ever take this part off the silver outer casing, if you want a workshop manual then post your email address and i will send you one, the manual goes into technical detail engine wise etc, but is good for step guide into removing such as the tranny case etc when you get used to using it and has pictures along the steps its in pdf format, have you had apart a nexus 500 transmission case before??????? cheersTaipan wrote:Quick question for you, the variator/trans filter; Is the cover just a push fit?
I was putting the side covers (after looking for intake leak) back on last night and thought I'd clean the filter. The light had pretty much gone by this time and I couldn't see any screws for the cover that sits in front of variator, which is where I assumed the filter would be? I was just going to blow the filter out as a matter of course as I like to keep them clean. So the whole silver (facia) case comes off and reveals the proper side casing behind it? That makes sense.
No, i've never taken one of these apart before. I will at the weekend as i want to check that damper bearing though.
I've just been sent a link to the workshop manual and will download it at lunchtime but thanks anyway.
I couldn't see any thing amiss on the intake side and will have a better listen when I ride it tomorrow to make sure that is what it sounds like. I had a quick look round the bike and apart from the front brake pads being near replacement it all seems okay. Oh the seat doesn't unlock by remote, you can hear the solenoid working but nothing unlocks, which is annoying. Hopefully its just a connecting arm fallen off. I was looking forward to riding it to work today but had to come in on my 250 as I have someone looking at it at lunchtime. Fingers crossed it sells.
