Even if they do see you, don't assume they are sane, reasonable competent or won't hit you intentionally.
3 stolen cars tried to ram me as they were escaping from a robbery. The second one got me and came back for another go. He was perfectly happy to kill any rider
Some people say skill is better than hi-Vis and its a fair point; but if you are already lying in the road unable to move being seen is all you have to protect you.
On a bike, lowering the odds against you still leaves them massively high

If you want to be incrementally better: Be competitive. If you want to be exponentially better: Be cooperative.

Re: Driving with your lights ON - Yes or No?
Dipped lights most of the time, I've been known to turn them off on long journeys between motorway junctions just to top the battery up, they come on if the traffic gets heavier, I filter, passing a junction, etc. Rest of the time I ride on dipped beams unless it's down unlt roads at night when I'll be alternating with the main beam.
Hi Viz, well, I usually wear it, but it's my pink helmet that gets noticed.

Not just Mercedes, a lot of manufacturers now fit these 'cornering lights' which illuminate the front fogs when turning.StephenC wrote:Mercedes also have the foglights on one side come on when a vehicle is turning - I think that's not strictly right either, but maybe there is a clause somewhere that allows this.
I do and always have, for over 30 years, used dipped beams when riding. And also whilst driving. Any thing that helps you to get noticed can only be of benefit.
Isn't it nice when things just work?
