Yes, done thoroughly it would probably take longer than 70 minutes.

yes they do as confirmed by bridge motorcylces Exeter and after a very lengthy conversation with piaggio uk the technical dept rang me back and confirmed as stated in the owners manual and no there is no mistranslation both pumps have to be replaced every 15.000km at a cost of give or take 280 quid not sure if that's plus or inclusive of the dreaded vat ... which is bollox and they've timed it to perfection the robbing bastards because it doesn't coincide with any routine service it has to be taken in just for the pumps between services.

which is a great shame because after owning many scoots im by no means an expert in anyway I still stand by the fact it is without doubt the best built scooter on sale today ..... but there are little things like this pump issue that are seriously spoiling my ownership of it ... to the extent im getting rid . I hate the feeling im being ripped off .. daft maybe but its really pissed me off this I use it a lot do biggish miles and expect servicing costs but I didn't expect on a 5grand scooter is to have to pay just under a thousand quid over the next three years just to service the brakes ..

it comes from the manufacturer of the pumps themselves who have told piaggio to change them every 15000kms. and I quote..... due to safety concerns .

Well...no way am I even going to consider changing master cylinder(s) on the Bev until the 12,000 mile service...which the limited mileage I do on it will be some considerable time! On the other hand, a 12000 service with new belt and new cylinders will cost a fortune...
In any event I'm not going to change the Brake Fluid and then change the cylinders shortly after!

For the non-technical among us, can you explain what are the "wearable" components in a MC that could justify replacement if you've used the ABS.

Is it seals or something, 'cos surely it is simply something to hold the brake fluid in. How could the metal need replacing!

One has to suggest that Piaggio have gone too far in component specification savings, if the item can't last. Wonder if a merchantable quality claim through Trading Standards is worth a try, these can't be considered normal consumable items.
