Me too sadly I think a lot of dealers are strapped for cash.

i would think that symuk could take advantage of this situation, a though occurred to me that although its not feasible cost wise for sym to have demo models in uk branches... A central uk ( probably the same place where Steve works) hospitality area where the latest models can be test ridden and general chit chat and hospitality and deals struck to either the local dealer to take delivery and aftercare etc, well these terms can be struck with the dealers.. so what do you think

Michael, I was thinking of something different to you but along the same lines. I wondered if SYM might consider a touring roadshow of their larger range and some of the smaller models, in some form or other. I don't know..... drop in mobile stands a la NEC show, at dealers or sites, prearranged etc.
I say this as I have been a jetskier for years now and I know that one major jetski player organised touring jetski demos/shows/displays around the country for visitors to view and ride the skis.
However, your suggestion Michael is a more permanent and viable option which, if the venue were centrally located I'd consider a trip. Of course more dealers would sort this out and make our suggestions unecessary.

dealers require fluidity of stock.. even the big 4 dont have most of the stock available to them, as its money sat there in there showrooms which they have pre-paid for... even your supermarket devotes space based on sales volume per item...i would gladly think of riding out to a demo hospitality central unit, especially as the objective would be to try a 250 300 400 or 600 machine.. most dealers will have the 50cc and 125 in a single unit and you choose the derivative you want.. especially as the demo function area would only need a few scoots and nil staffing so to speak as it could be appointment only, with the initial interest from customer being pointed in the right direction from the dealers, this would have to be worked out , yet viable

The number of bike dealers appears to be shrinking, even over the past few years.
IMO the expansion of the the sports bike market has meant that when money gets tight the first thing to go is the expensive luxury sports bike - and hence dealer business. Adventure bikes had a surge but then went to £15k with thirsty engines, pricey tyres and the all prevalent fun robbing Weight.
Of course it's catch 22 as I discovered with my Joyride 200 and it's 1864mile service interval, no one wants a regular £100-150 service bill on a cheap scooter. Particularly as it meant the 80mpg was really costing me 40mpg. Pushing the small to mid-size maxi-scooter market is good in London and France but the UK 'Proud To Have Wet Feet' brigade of manliness means it's a hard sell.
BTW my 171cc Joyride was faster than a nice cruiser bike on the M11 today

I've heard that a new SYM attracts this sort of attention...

Sorry mac65, I hope I won't be held responsible for taking your thread off at another tangent
So, back to the Joymax
Any more pictures or feedback for us? Or shall I check 'Showroom' or just shut up!

Going off on a tangent is good. I like to see what people think and how they respond. Just over 200 miles now and loving it even more. Will need to get a nice day and get a good run out and take some senic photos. Parked up tonight but the girl in SkuTorr's pic never turned up! Oh well never mind!

I am in favour of doing the suggested 'On Tour' idea of taking say six to ten demo machines on a massive dealer to dealer route throughout the UK
I would really really appreciate the forums help promote and join in.... if I bring it to fruition then I will need help to male it work!
Cheers
