Don't worry - you are not alone! Although the dodgy styling is of course only skin deep - technically its probably pretty good.SpikeOne wrote:Only just picked up on this video.
Sorry, but am I the only one who thinks it's horrid!

It's about time that bike manufacturers woke up to this aspect of their products.wozza wrote:The service intervals are bloody marvelous
The Honda NC range has 8000 mile intervals and the CBR250R valve clearance check interval is 48,000km

But the shorter the service intervals the more often you'll be visiting the dealer.
I'm surprised scooters don't have 2000 mile service intervals.

Re: x10 vid
Small Hondas are 2500 mile intervals, which there is only one word for: fucking shite. OK that was two words.

Re: x10 vid
I received my regular copy of Motorcycle Monthly today and they've done a very positive article on the new X10 350....
Basically they stated the new 330cc machine is not only better all- rounder than the new SRV850 but it's arguably the best of this years new maxi scooters and that's including the new BMW C models and the revamped T-max...
That's pretty impressive.
There is going to be two models, Basic and Executive - luckily for us in the UK we're getting the Executive which has the ABS and traction control.
They are a few things that had me puzzled though - In the text it mentions drive is by traditional CVT, but further down the page there's a picture of the rear end and it states 'Reliable shaft drive'.........
Where did they get that from?
The 350 has a twin shock rear end and the 500 is going to have a mono shock rear end......

So...why does my copy take forever to arrive???wozza wrote:I received my regular copy of Motorcycle Monthly today and they've done a very positive article on the new X10 350....

I'm completely prepared to believe that the X10 is a better all-rounder than the SRV, but better than the TMax and BMWs??? However, I guess it is half the price...
Shaft drive?? Journos eh!!!! Even MSL had a picture of the TMax variator and labelled it 'New TMax has belt final drive' ! I presume the X10 has the X9/Nexus rather traditional scooter layout with a simple CVT???
Re: x10 vid
That's excellent news, but what puzzles me is that the exec job as tested at the release in Paris was white, but the UK dealer product listings I've seen for the X10 thus far don't list white as an available colour.wozza wrote:luckily for us in the UK we're getting the Executive which has the ABS and traction control.
Piaggio UK don't even have it on their website product or price list pages yet.
Tossers don't seem to realise they could be onto a big winner with this model, al they need to do is some half decent promotion and advertising.

Re: x10 vid
One difference to the motor (according to Scootering) is that the belt drive CVT has a revised layout featuring a wet multi-plate clutch sat in oil, and valve clearances are set using variable thickness tablets or shims.
Re: x10 vid
Another revision to the valvetrain is the use of roller rockers.
These are a plus, shims are not.

tablets is the word used in the report, I added shims...assuming they were the same??
Another difference from your average maxi-scoot is the absence of a large "step up" between rider and pillion seat heights. The wife will appreciate that, as at nearly the same height as me, she catches all the wind and rain whilst I sit in the relative comfort of the Givi protected rider's seat
