Re: MCN Tossers
Or maybe it was because they had to concentrate VERY hard on what gear they were in and where the next petrol station was because they only had half a tank left that they didn't even notice you???tmaxdragster wrote: ...went past a group of chopper riders from a uuumm have to be carefull with this one a certain club. not one nodded to me. maybe the fact that my tmax looked too black for them and with its load custom parts and rumbling gpr pipe . maybe they were too cool to nod or just thought look at that twat on a want to be race bike ...? the fact remains i dont want to be like the rest of them out there ! i get shit of the italian scooter ludites ...but what the fuck ....its no ugly duckling and no slouch holding its own with others .....so i say FUCK EM ALL..!

Imagine IF MCN realised there's a massive group of potential readers who are constantly being 'put off' with short sighted, egotistical, sometimes non-factual (especially MPG) bullshit.
What could MCN do encouragepeople like 'us'?
MPG, MPH, comfort, seat height, wind protection, rain protection, how good are the brakes, lights, weight, servicing intervals, fuel tank capacity and distance travelled/litres used etc.
Properroad tests.
Acceleration: 0-30mph, 0-60mph, 30-70mph?
Stopping distances?
What d'ya think?
What would you like to know?
Why wait for them to do it? We have the scooters, we can do it

No, they'll just do a piece in the rag, about the funny little men on the forum, who can't ride a proper bike!

Re: MCN Tossers
Motorcycle Monthly did a brilliant thing last year, where they took a rather wide selection of bikes - ranging from a Norton Commando to a ZX10R to a Honda PS125 and Kymco Downtown 300 - and drove them all along a 50 mile test route - including dual carriageways, twisty B-roads and town centres - and recorded the average speed of the journey and the mpg figure and some more impressionistic stuff. It was really fascinating - I felt I learnt more about most of the bikes in a short paragraph than most full tests. Top of the speed ratings was the ZX10R with an average of 76mph (sod the speed limits!), but the winner overall was the BMW F800ST which averaged 60mph, but did nearly 60mpg. They noted that even the 125 scooter managed an average of 46mph (with sky high economy), but that the Downtown wasn't that much slower over the ground than the bikes. The most economical was an Enfield with a diesel engine, but that was slower than the 125 scoot and far less fun....anonstarter wrote:This has got me thinking...

Re: MCN Tossers
Just remind me again: Why do we want `acceptance` by MCN?
They promote mph above mpg
They think a sportsbike with 1hp more than last year is an `improvement`
They think racing improves the breed
They think bigger is better
They actually ride more miles than 97% of their readers
They haven't campaigned for increased service intervals, mandatory horsepower/power-to-weight limitations for new car drivers, equal moped rights for our 14 year olds with our contniental (and fellow EU) cousins, compulsory Third Party liability insurance for pedal cyclists.
They have done nothing to improve ab initio access to powered two wheelers to increase the numbers of riders for tomorrow
In todays climate WE are the more relevant road users.
It is THEY who require acceptance from us.
Don't invite them here, they're the ones with their heads in the sand
