when i wrapped my sons electric moped in carbon black i found using a hair dryer for the tricky bits handy as you were able to stretch the vynal with the use of some water in a sprayer as well. you prob knew this but just a thought, especially on larger areas, cheers

how did you use the water in a sprayer? surely that would not work... you can use a specially formulated liquid but applying wet is not ideal.

i did not soak the panel , just a moist spray, maybe the vinyl i used was different to yours, mine was very stiff and the spray was used on the trim, did not affect the stickyness of the vinyl when applied as you squiggy any excess off, this method was used mainly on the larger side panels etc as you are dealing with larger area, as you make mistakes , you need to reheat the vinyl to remove and pull back, i even slightly heated the vinyl after cutting required shape before removing the backing to aid application, the water did not affect the stickyness, and then used hair dryer when smoothing out with sponge or plastic card, hair dryer came in useful for small items were you might have a central hole etc were you need to get the vinyl into, stanley knifed a cut were required for shape then eased into shape, this method worked for me, i must admit made a few mistakes in the beginning till got used to how to work the vinyl, the vinyl you have purchased seems that it was more expensive and certainly better made than mine was, i have used the vinyl also on the nexus exhaust shield and the rings around bottom forks about 6 mths ago and they are still fine, mistakes of air bubbles mostly can be put right with heat and pull the vinyl back, if you have a very tiny one pin prick it and apply heat and press in usually gets rid, cheers

yeah thats basically what I am doing, the vinyl I am using is 100 micron with a 7 year life and a semi permanent adhesive, the cheaper films have a permanent adhesive which can be a bitch to get off apparently without ruining the paint work underneath. I can see how a fluid underneath would help, my main problem is not bubbles but tiny bits of dust getting under the film as I am laying it... it really annoying to have laid a large are perfectly flat then to see a spot that has several tiny hard bumps.

Forgot to post this work in progress from last week... will be doing more this weekend.

Did another panel 3 times this weekend... first I dropped it, having got it near perfect on concrete, and scratched the vinyl... second I almost finished it but tore the vinyl when doing a tricky section... third is not quite as good as the first but I'll live with it... some of the panels are right tricky to do. I had planned to do atleast three panels this weekend instead just one three times

Had to redo that panel as I had cut an edge too close to a stretched part and it retracted under the hot sun, must have forgotten to warm that part of the panel having wrapped it to relax the surrounding area.

So two panels done yesterday (one re wrapped) hopefully get them back on and two more panels will be done by the end of the day... I keep forgetting to take photo's

you doing great its a steady job and you wish you had 4 hands
