The Mondeo is an average car, outsold a few years back by the more expensive BMW 3 series  The X type is as you say a Mondeo too, but sold for more money to people who pander to retro fashions

I tell ya GN2, you talk as much shite for Scotland as I do for England ;) We are the shitemeisters of the forum!

I had a diesel Mondeo on hire when my X-type was in for repair a while back (insurance job, someone reversed into it)
I didn't want to give the Mondeo back, it was fabulous.
Went from Aberdeenshire to Manchestershire and a few trips round and about over the course of a long weekend at an average of 49mpg.
So that was a saving of £heaps over using the Jag (25mpg)

As for talking shite, isn't that what internet forums are for...?
Anyway to give you a laugh, my wife bought me one of these for crimbo and told me to get a "proper" scooter!

I had a 2011 Mondeo 2.0 Tdci for a week a while back. Lovely motor.

There won't be many coming on the second hand market if they don't sell well, at that price they probably won't.
Which is a shame because they look rather fabulous.
The price is about the only stumbling block on these new "Lammies" I reckon £2500 would be a much fairer price and I'm sure they would then fly out of the dealers showrooms.

I have seen a used one on e bay for around that price and some dealers are selling them at a slight discount & offering 0% finance over 2 years.

The fiddle is a nice little scoot but being a lanky git I couldn't get comfortable when I tried sitting on one at the NEC show whereas the Lammie had a lot more leg room and felt more substantial.
If they had fitted the Lammie with the liquid cooled Joyride engine, especially the 200cc version I could be very tempted to make one my next scoot :)

The main difference is of course that the Neco has plastic bodywork whereas the Vespa / LML / Lambretta scooters are of all steel construction.

I haven't actually seen one on the road yet in my part of the world although the nearest Neco dealer to me is just 15 miles down the road and they have been trying to sell them for over 12 months now.

The new "Lambretta" auto looks a lot nicer with its SYM engine and steel body work & I could be tempted by one of those for commuting to work on if one comes up at a decent price on the second hand market in the future.
I first saw the Necos at the NEC and was impressed. The first I saw out and about was at the Brighton Burn up in September this year. At first walk-through I (and probably many other folk) missed the fact that it was an imposter sat in the middle of a collection of genuine Italian scooters.

If I was after one I'd probably buy through Eddy Bullet, and take out their £60 pick-up-and-return warranty as well as the 2 year warranty included.

Then again, rumour has it that CPI may be importing Necos (or perhaps the same scooter from the same manufacturer under the CPI brand name) sometime this year.

I think the Neco looks alright, take off the badges and who'd know from a distance? :) The purists won't like them but who gives a toss what a load of old guys who still dress like it's 1978 think? I saw a couple of Neco's at last years Mersea Island rally...

But then you may as well buy a LX or a ET4.

I sort of agree, but the Neco does look nice.... be interesting to see how well they hold up reliability wise. Thing is, after a couple of years a Neco will be worth very little whereas an LX will hold its price better, a PX even more so.

Yeah the Neco is way over-priced. The same scooter with modern looking plastics would be a grand so you're paying 800 quid extra because it looks like an old Vespa.

Not quite. Look at one in comparison to, for example, a Lexmoto Tommy (a scooter I like incidentally) and the Neco does have a better finished feel about it. Essentially it's the same powertrain though so it's a valid point, but more like £600 more when you factor in OTR costs etc and the Neco does have a 2 year warranty.
