Theres loads of older C1s in London, so they must be reliable if daft!

The GT650 though, when I saw them at the NEC I thought WOW, I do like that. I sat on them and looked all over and found the riding position suited me better than any other scooter, the space under the seat was fab and I loved the overall styling. However, I was dissapointed with the fit and finish and also the lack of any underbody protection.

I asked one of the reps how much and he said the C600 would be somewhere between £7500 and £8000 and a little more for the GT650. I thought at the time if they improved the quality Id be happy to shell out no more than £8500... but I thought it would come with all the gizmos as he didnt say they were extra so no, Im not paying over £10000 for one as its just daft.

I am someone who spends money without thinking really, I havent got loads but I dont mind finance and yes I would have spent £6500 on a Silverwing had it been comfortable, which I didnt find. I didnt buy a 650 Burger as I prefer the styling of the 400 and I nearly paid £8300 for a Tmax whitemax but after sleeping on it thought better!

End of the day, this new BMW is too expensive and not up to scratch quality wise.

Now how do you know they were crap, apart from what you may have read somewhere. They'd have been way out of your self imposed price league, and were a pretty rare sight on our roads.

Well, the list of issues with them was quite well known, and they were incredibly expensive at the time. Some people did love them...and others couldn't get on with them at all.

That is part of the issue - in the past, BMW's were rated as being expensive but supremely reliable and well built. These days, many seem cheaper (though not the C600/650), but you can't open a bike mag these days with people complaining about serious problems they've had with their BMWs. And the K1600GT seems like a nightmare, with all the electrical glitches we used to slag off Italian scoots for.

A workmate has a C1, she's been blown over twice by high winds (that she has admitted to...), but it does seem reliable

Welll.. no one has yet! Remember when we thought £6000 was an outrageous price for a Tmax?????

What's the price of the N700X with DCT??? Then again, if I was going to faff around with chain drive, I might as well go for the Aprilia SRV! A lot more power and a better fairing (but no ABS).

1: My eyesight, I can tell by looking that they are ridiculously top heavy and have you ever seen anyone on the pillion seat...?
2: You cannot take a test on one because they are unfit for the purpose.

NC700X £5850, NC700S £5350 and £700 for the DCT supposedly. £7500 for the Integra (including DCT Auto). All DCT versions have ABS, and 8000 mile service intervals.

No no no no no.
You can take a test on a PCX albeit a "Light Motorcycle" one.
You cannot take any test on a C1.
