Meldrew wrote:Yeah, well I'll reserve my judgement on the BMW scooters, I think I may have mentioned on here already that a few years ago the Honda DN-01 was being rubbished for being useless and now a couple of Muppets own them. The Honda 700 Integra got a dogging for being neither a bike or a scooter and having chain drive etc when it was introduced. Now a few Muppets are running round on a 700 or a 750 version of the Integra and enjoying ownership of them.
I'll give it another year or so and a Muppet or two will be running around on a fully toyed up BMW C650 GT they've bought for a good price.
I think you're missing the point entirely - we are talking about serious BMW quality issues and not desirability issues of a particular model of bike.
No the DN-01 isn't particularly desirable for 95% of people, but does it have any of the issues which have been reported on here about BMW? I think not, likewise the Integra.

Great, more BMW Slagging Off......Goodbye to rubbish.

Makes me wonder how many of you have actually owned or even ridden the BMW Scooter?
Agreed there have been too many problems but all Scooters have there problems.
Yamaha TMax Fuel Pumps and Regulators, Burgman 400 Clutch Issues, Burgman 650 Major Transmission Failure Etc Etc
I've owned a lot of Maxi-Scooters and done a fair few miles on each of them.
3 x Burgman 400
3 x Burgman 650 also had a test ride on the Latest 2014 Burgman 650
1 x Honda Silverwing
None of them come close to the BMW, it's the best Maxi that I have owned.
Done more miles on the BMW Scoot in the last few months than any of the others

Re: BMW C600 reliability problems
Andy, I'm pleased to see that you're happy with your BMW scoot.
Yes other scoots have had their problems, but not quite like Bmw have experienced in their mad rush to chuck out a new model every 5mins. BMW motorcycles are not the quality company they were in years gone by. Virtually every single model has had some major problems in recent years.
Infact in a recent survey in the USA 1 in 3 BMW machines can expect major warranty work in the first 3 years of ownership, this is worse than Harley and way, way behind the Japanese. Yamaha having the lowest warranty claims of all.

Re: BMW C600 reliability problems
I met a guy up town a while back who has a bmw gt650 scoot and he has not had an issue in 2 years of ownership ,however he was not happy with the dealer servicing costs or the build quality.

Re: BMW C600 reliability problems
Reference the build quality.
Yes, the plastic doors are rubbish, but no worse than a 2014 Suzuki Burgman 400
The paint finish seems very good, the painted wheels are very good, much better than Jap Bikes I have owned.
The paint finish on the wheels is very smooth so very easy to keep clean

Re: BMW C600 reliability problems
The Satelis was criticised for poor quality glovebox lid when it was launched. But having 3 of them and clocking up between 20 and 30k miles on each, never once was it an issue of any sort.
I have to admit I quite like the look of the GT myself and when the prices come down I may even go for one. But then I've owned 5 BIg Pugs and now a Kymco-Kwasaki hybrid, so I admit to being a bit off-the-wall on my choices....
