Exhaust - not cheap to replace
It looks as if someone has already done that - it doesn't look like a standard exhaust in the pics!
Looks generally a good buy.

To me! :-D

£850 including new MOT, service, tax & delivery. Getting it Thursday. Yipee. Everything seems fine about it. Its got a few scratches etc. where its been dropped but the steering seems smooth, the digidash all seems to work (the max speed is showing 88!) and it is a non-original exhaust, but again that looks fine. Can't fault it for the price. Didn't get to ride it but I'm not concerned by that. Tool kit & manual under the seat, as well as a PICS headset (can't see me ever using it). Not much paper history, just the last MOT and the V5, but the mileage marries up. The seat catch didn't work very well which is about the only bad thing I can say about it really. Not too sure about the red key thing - I'm sure Mottza will confirm whether this model has one. Shop owner was a character, can see why he'd rub some people up the wrong way, but whatever - happy to pay 850, especially since seeing a Yamaha Majesty 250 at Hunts last week, which in my opinion was looking a lot rougher for an older machine with 14k miles on for £1900 :o !

You don't have a red key for the 250sl as it has no immobiliser.

Looks a great bargain. Did you get any warranty with it?

My digi dash say max of 91. But that's downhill and with a tailwind on a private road. It will normally top 80 max. Does about 200-220 miles to a tank.

Do you know the history of the belt? If it needs doing don't buy the Honda/piaggio part. That's £150. The belt is made by Bando and can be got for less than £50 on easy parts.nl. Recommend that you fit dr pulley sliders and rollers when they require replacement.

Join the x9 owners club as well. You may recognise a few names.

Give me a shout if u need any more help.

Other useful stuff: http://www.wotmeworry.org.uk/manuals/250%20SL/

Thanks Mottza. A warranty wasn't spoken of. No history on the belt. Thanks for the heads up on the belt price. When I get some time I'll have to give it a check - its not done the miles but its certainly done the time. I think I'll be a fully signed up member of the X9 forum by the end of the weekend.

Thanks DougL. My next question was going to be about technical manuals - they are exactly what I was after.
