Economics and that's it, these moto by-cyle makers make money on these scoots and nothing else...they pay for the development of the other stuff....yes even your beloved T-MAX got it's development cash from the 50 to 150cc scoots and bikes that sell in there millions...they no the countries
they sell to need them, simply as that..they will only develop into some thing else when they stop selling and making them money..you can scream and shout all you like and nothing will change..we are an inconsequential little has been Island off the coast of Europe where lots of scoots are sold, and lots of money made..

I holiday each summer in the Far East, currently I’m in Thailand. All these countries have squillions of scooters as cheap effective practical transport for the masses. The UK scooter market must be pathetically small in comparison. Manufacturers aren’t going to spend large sums of money on changing what is already acceptable to the masses.

The issue with using a 'proper' swinging arm without the engine attached is space under the seat. The XMAX/Forza 300 have much more space under the seat, 42l for the xmax300. It was one of the main criteria for me buying one together with the fantasticly low fuel consumption. Tmax is a great bike but less practical from storage perspective due to the swinging arm/engine configuration.

Interesting to read the last series of 'suspension' posts on here - the ride quality of the XMax 300 was starting to cause me to wonder if I'd have been better off going for the Forza 300; but apparently not! The XMax is better than the Forza 125 was, but not by much...to the extent that I'm reluctant to introduce any pillion friends to it.
But....that long-stroke XMax 300 engine is a torquey gem, it's averaging around 100mpg, the 'boot' is huge, the seat is comfortable, the screen (on the higher setting) is one of the best I've sat behind 'out of the box', the brakes are good now they're bedded in, there's plenty of legroom, and really the handling is fine for the vast majority of the time - for a scooter!
So, so far, it's doing exactly what I bought it for - replacing both a TMax 530 and a Forza 125.

Getting towards 7000 miles on my X-max 300 in 6/7 months and agree with the above, not had 2 up but do weigh about 15 stone,
rear is set on one from the top but it handles very well for a scooter better than a lot of bikes, I have not had a moment on it which
is more than I can say for my 2010 Burgman 400 and MT07, ok small wheels are always going to drop further into a pot hole than
a bigger wheel you cant really get round that, it's a good all round package and I for one am happy with mine, just how they get
the 100 mpg fuel consumption out of it I don't know but they do, the led lights are a bit strange but a look at the speedo showed
I was cruising at 60 on pitch black country roads so they cant be that bad, If you are thinking about one read all this then go get
a test ride see if it suites you, preferably back to back with any other you may be thinking about, just because you read it on't net
don't make it true and what suits one wont suit another.

I didnt believe that when I read it, not many long stroke engines around these days (NC750 excluded!)
But just checked the tech spec and it is 70.0 mm x 75.9 mm

I must get a testride on one of these.
I was holding out for the Forza 300 but the Xmax sounds like it has a bit more go.

The X max 300 motor sounds superb.
If only they had dealt with the suspension, can you imagine how good it would be.
Often reving up a good smaller motor can give you way more smiles per miles, than a larger capactiy machine.
Bung on an enclosed chain rear drive swinging arm and bingo.

Always my trouble - at just over 11st/72kg, I find that nearly every modern bike I try has suspension that's far too hard!
