In the meantime, I fitted my touring screen today (A real Aprilia one) ready for a trip upto Blackpool on Friday (only about 260 miles each way).

Re: What have you done to your Scooter today?
I have a 55mm pulley socket still in its wrapper, that'll see use next week hopefully. I have lots of strange italian bike tools from Guzzis, maybe one can be adapted too.
OK, did my usual pre-checks before a journey today, was going to lok at the back brake as if had a bit of a squeel....
Found another screw in the rear tyre, popped the wheel off & had my local bike garage put the new tyre which I had on (michelin city grip).
Cleaned, exercised, greased the rear brake calliper, popped in new pads as the old ones were getting thin.
All working again, hope it stays that way until I can look at the belt & clutch next week (I have new spares for those, & a spare low miles variator with all the bits).

Re: What have you done to your Scooter today?
The guys at Scooterden on changing the rear tyre said something about having problems taking some bolts off - if it was them leaving these broken, i'm not happy.Taipan wrote:The little Liberty was starting to vibrate really badly so I had an idea what it might be and I was correct. The exhaust had come loose! ... Sadly one of the mounting bolts has snapped off flush to the casing so I'll have to drill that out later on. Apart from that I checked the front pads but they were new so I just cleaned everything up and reassembled. Looks like it might needs rear shoes according to the usage indicator but I'll check them next week.
Sorry, i did say it hadnt had it's yearly service (i think)Taipan wrote:Cleaned the air filter, transmission and SAS filter. Air filter needed and was due a clean but wasn't too bad. The trans and SAS filters however, were absolutely filthy and I mean filthy. The water was black as tar when I rinsed them!

Re: What have you done to your Scooter today?
still on the honda foresight this week.. the new (to me) 400 burgman is going to the electricians tomorrow night to get earth fault sorted, THEN i can rebuild her, swap insurance, tax her and ride, baby!
the foresight feels a damn sight lighter when pushing her around the drive.. currently doing 84mpg! its a 2003 model, will be for sale soon.. had its fair share of scratches but goes great, 10 months of mot and tax left on it, nice aftermarket exhaust. i'll be trying for £750 for her.
MUST try another route to silence the new silencer on the burgman.. looks great but SO loud!

Re: What have you done to your Scooter today?
The engine bolt does look freshly broken as its not dirty. But proving anything is different. Quite why they dont use spring washers is beyond me though.Zed wrote:The guys at Scooterden on changing the rear tyre said something about having problems taking some bolts off - if it was them leaving these broken, i'm not happy.Taipan wrote:The little Liberty was starting to vibrate really badly so I had an idea what it might be and I was correct. The exhaust had come loose! ... I ordered a new belt and rollers and oil filter for it today and will complete the full service on Sunday. Well assuming the belt turns up in time.
