I'll look at that as the Aprilia Atlantic will be much the same.

In the meantime, I fitted my touring screen today (A real Aprilia one) ready for a trip upto Blackpool on Friday (only about 260 miles each way).

yes it was a test to see how the tool worked... i did it in two hours this morning pulling out casing, variator and clutch.. then fitted polini spring into the clutch and reassembled scoot after a good clean of the variator etc woth clutch cleaner, will post how the scoot feels when ive been on it a couple of days :D now i done it if anyone is going to change a clutch on the 500 piaggio then you can borrow the tool and 55mm pulley wrench, as long as you pay postage each way i dont mind :D :D :D

I have a 55mm pulley socket still in its wrapper, that'll see use next week hopefully. I have lots of strange italian bike tools from Guzzis, maybe one can be adapted too.

OK, did my usual pre-checks before a journey today, was going to lok at the back brake as if had a bit of a squeel....

Found another screw in the rear tyre, popped the wheel off & had my local bike garage put the new tyre which I had on (michelin city grip).

Cleaned, exercised, greased the rear brake calliper, popped in new pads as the old ones were getting thin.

All working again, hope it stays that way until I can look at the belt & clutch next week (I have new spares for those, & a spare low miles variator with all the bits).

Sadly one of the mounting bolts has snapped off flush to the casing so I'll have to drill that out later on. Apart from that I checked the front pads but they were new so I just cleaned everything up and reassembled. Looks like it might needs rear shoes according to the usage indicator but I'll check them next week.
The guys at Scooterden on changing the rear tyre said something about having problems taking some bolts off - if it was them leaving these broken, i'm not happy.

Sorry, i did say it hadnt had it's yearly service (i think) Also note it has/had blue anti-puncture goop in the tyres (probably just front one now).

still on the honda foresight this week.. the new (to me) 400 burgman is going to the electricians tomorrow night to get earth fault sorted, THEN i can rebuild her, swap insurance, tax her and ride, baby!

the foresight feels a damn sight lighter when pushing her around the drive.. currently doing 84mpg! its a 2003 model, will be for sale soon.. had its fair share of scratches but goes great, 10 months of mot and tax left on it, nice aftermarket exhaust. i'll be trying for £750 for her.

MUST try another route to silence the new silencer on the burgman.. looks great but SO loud!

The engine bolt does look freshly broken as its not dirty. But proving anything is different. Quite why they dont use spring washers is beyond me though. You did indeed tell me it was due a service. :) I was just amazed at how dirty these things get in shiny clean London! ;)

I ordered a new belt and rollers and oil filter for it today and will complete the full service on Sunday. Well assuming the belt turns up in time. :)
