That sounds horrendous.
Are the calipers dragging?
Brake cleaner won't cure that, you need to strip them, clean the pins and any mating faces up, apply copper grease and reassemble.
Also make sure the pistons are clean and retracting properly.

In Bleeding the system, you force out all the rubber crap on the inside of the piston seals, and that frees off the sticking pistons.

i bought a non return valve one, that i put the lower plastic tube into the cap( burnt hole it it then secured above and below with a cable tie) of a small plastic drinks coke bottle, then its easy to do your self, just squeeze and fill up reservoir, makes bleeding a doddle for under a fiver

Thanks for that, just ordered one.
I've always hated messing with brake fluid as I struggle with the bleeding aspect so hopefully I can calm my fears and use this little widget from now on.

yes its a doddle... the non return valve has an arrow on it usually so you know the flow, and just two clear pipes and a clip for the caliper, i used the clear plastic coke bottle job with pipe running thru lid, as you can then leave it hanging without fear of it spilling,

just did my three brakes this morning, and like when you normally do it , you can leave the brake lever squeezed when nipping up if you want to, but not required though, you can really flush out all the system

Fitted my Autocom intercom over the weekend and finished it off this evening. Was a bit of a challenge fitting it in and making all the wiring nice and tidy, but have to say quite pleased with the finished result. Managed to run a cable up to the front glove box so we can connect an MP3 player and radio for some music. Just need to get the sat-nav sorted now. Don't know whether to get a TomTom or Garmin.
Cheers

Belt also has a strange rubbing mark on the outside of it? Sadly the oil filter didnt arrive in time but I'll changethe oil and filter in the week now. Then its been fully serviced and ready for Spain.
Cant believe what a difference this has made to the scoot. Lost that "all revs and no go" and where it was starting to scream at 80kmh its now happily cruising along at 90kmh.

New belts was 20.8mm and teh old one was just on 21mm. I should have measured the outside diameter of the belts. I assume as the old one was cracked between the teeth it was stretched and altering the gearing?
Still got that annoying vibration to find but after I fix that it really will be a cracking little scoot. Very impressed with it.

Washed and serviced my airbag vest - put the hi back in the viz.
going to change the gas bottle next time so I will be doing a firing test, always good for a laugh.
Washed and reproofed my winter jacket while the sun was out - this might be the only weekend I don't need to actually wear it
