It wont fail for the same reason BMWs cars dont, some people want the brand and supposed prestige that goes with it. Why buy a BMW 1 series when something cheaper does the job as well or a 5 series when you could have a big Shitroen.... same with this new 650 scooter. If you said to a BMW fan that they could buy a Honda Silverwing for much less they would look at you like you were stupid.

So, despite it being expensive it will not fail so nah  Its a shame its so pricey as the storage and comfort are brilliant on the GT version. For me, the sport is a waste of space though.

£9,705.00 on the road price for the GT........ So it's not ten grand

I said that last Tuesday on the first page of this thread.....which only goes to prove what I said about people not reading previous posts. ;)

Worryingly everyone must have read MCN and believed it!

Seems some people have missed the point completely.
The news story is that BMW have the first scooter retailing at over ten thousand pounds.
Yes, you can get the base one for under ten grand, that isn't the point.
The point is that there is one over ten grand.
Simple enough to understand for anyone with half a brain.

No - all it means is that BMW advertise the prices for optional extras whereas other manufactures state only the Retail Price of their scooters and fail to add that the extras such as heated grips, luggage and so on have to be purchased afterwards.
As has been said before, buyers are at liberty to pay the less-than £10,000 and add any extras they want if they want thus, as with any vehicle, raising the amount they spend on it.
I've bought loads of aftermarket stuff for my Silverwing but that is my choice after having paid the basic price at the dealers and it's given me the freedom to buy whatever I think is best for me and from whom I choose.

To maintain that the BMW costs over £10,000 is simply not true.
Perhaps you'd have been happier if they had done what car manufacturers do and state that prices are 'From £9,705.00'.

Maybe I should change the thread title.

I'm sure a lot of scoots would be crazy prices if you added lots of options to them. However £9,705.00 is still way too much.

Just put a Question Mark after it then those of us who did 'sums' at school and can work out that 9,705 is 295 less than 10,000 will merely have to say 'No it isn't'! :D
