No ride is cancelled lightly, i will cancel any ride i organize if i think the ride is unsafe.
Well said! Some people think these things organise themselves.
I spent 11 years as secretary of a cycling club, organising races. The club members were all happy to ride any race I organised, but as soon as I asked for help with anything - haven't got time/don't know how to do it etc. I cancelled a race one day when the weather was as bad as we've been having recently, standing water on the road, spray from cars etc, downright dangerous in my opinion. I was called everything from a pig to a dog, so I said "F**k it, I've had enough" and resigned, left the club. The bloke who took over, the biggest whinger of the lot, closed the club down within 6 months - "too much work for me"! Twat!

I 100% agree Alan and I look forward to the next ride out you organize.

Looks like you guys would have a had a shit morning but a better afternoon however there would be areas still flooded with standing water and cnuts in cars around it would have been just as bad, don't blame you for cancelling.

But then I also don't blame those who had to pay other costs for a bit a of a whinge, they are entitled to that at least

If I was being asked by people travelling a long way about the likely conditions for this ride a couple of days ago - I would have said to cancel the ride. No doubt about it. Living as close to the route as I do and having local mates who can ride out or not as conditions look like on the day we had it easy. Our thinking was that - if it doesn't look dangerous then lets go. There was absolutely no implied critiscm of anyone. Anybody who organises a ride deserves support. Canceling a ride is a hard decision.

Great ride around holme moss glossop snake pass ladybower (nice hot choc and cornish pastie at the visitor centre there!)... up to penistone then back to Wakey... smashing ride with smashing peeps... you know who you are!!.. bit windy.. a couple of showers and sunshine.

As Gerard says ... as we're local we could take the decision this morning... glad we did!! :-)
