What SYM models did they have?

I think that sounds a good idea. You Are right it's not just SYM that as a problem with the availability of demonstrators. The piagio X10 was on my short list, I would have had to gone up to London for a test ride.

So lets get this straight you want me potential customer to part with a £100 to try a bike out that if i decide not to buy within 3 months i loose a £100 quid ,you are having a laugh . You want to sell them you make sure theres a demo available somewhere .I have had no problems getting demo rides elsewhere .

The models they had were jet 50`s and 125`s . I do like the look of the 600 ,however due to the seat height i think its a non starter for me .

Locally I was not able to test ride a Tmax, X10, Majesty or a Maxsym

One more reason to look elsewhere.
If you can't get demonstrators and stock into dealerships at competitive prices there's no point being an importer.
Blaming the economy just doesn't cut it I'm afraid, when budgets are tight that's exactly when you should be pushing the virtues of your cheap alternative transport options.

I once did something similar test riding a big bike (RSV1000) and I thought it reasonable - the test ride was for the weekend so I really did get to live with it.

I have bought more expensive cars with only a short test ride, regretted it, sold them and lost a lot of money because I could not live with them!!!

If a local dealer has one as a demonstrator then fine - but if not?

It is NOT a rental charge for a test ride!

£100 does not even cover the cost of delivery to the dealer! Let alone collection, depreciation, insurance etc....

We offer all dealers a discount (in line with the big four) so they may have their own demo fleet

Maybe if you took a look at the market statistics of how many Maxi Scoots are registered per year you would see that your local Ford dealer probably sells more Ka's than the UK sales of Maxi Scoots!

Hardly surprising that small scooter dealers are reluctant to stock these models let alone have demonstrators available

We know via howmanyleft.com what the sales are.
If you want to increase your share of the market or increase the market you need to get things done and make it happen.
No point crying into your beer after you get a few simple facts pointed out on a forum.

Welcome BR, I'm on my third SYM. Joyride 125, GTS EVO 125, GTS EVO 300i. I was lucky and had a choice of four dealers in the West Midlands / Stoke on Trent area. I bought the 300i from the dealer who actually had one in the showroom. None of the other three had any SYMs in stock.

I'm afraid I won't be buying a 600i if I cannot go and at least look at one within a reasonable distance.

Have you considered touring your own fleet of test maxis around your dealer network, maybe having a demo day in each where interested buyers could sign up in advance for a test ride on the day in a similar way to the car manufactures?
