Re: Max joy from my Joymax!!
Surprisingly, you soon get used to the kph speedo. They are very clear, with mph easy to see, if somewhat a bit smaller. But it's not a deal breaker for me. Disappointing for some maybe but I wouldn't let it put you off a good bike Gn. Speedo's generally are much bigger now so it makes it easier to see that a few years ago.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Are you sure that the new 2014 300i ABS and even the 125i CBS have the stop start in the UK. The continent seem to have the 125 ABS with stop start but not seen the 300i?

Re: Max joy from my Joymax!!
Doesn't matter what size the dials are or how easy to read they are, I simply cannot tolerate an instrument with mph as the secondary inner scale, it just does my head in.
It would have to be possible to fit one of those converter thingumabobs so that the outer kph scale indicates mph.
Even then I would not buy a new bike with a kph speedo because I will not support a manufacturer who shows what I view as contempt for their UK customers.
From what I can see on Fuelly, the Joymax might be slightly more economical than the Forza.
But loses out on the servicing and Honda's finance deals are at a much lower interest rate

Re: Max joy from my Joymax!!
Nice to know, that very important selling point is nowhere to be found on Sym's websites, that I can easily see. I have a B650 and a 125 and now have a desire for one mid capacity scooter only as I only travel around my local area and a 300 has more than enough power\speed for my desires now.spaceprobe wrote:Yes the 300 as stop and go but stop lusting after a Joymax and go for a 600, you won't be sorry
Gn, I was really looking forward to the Forza, but compared to the new competition it's bland looking but practical and it has superior service schedules. Maybe the v2 will be improved?

The stop and go function was mentioned on the new website. It certainly is in the latest brochure

Re: Max joy from my Joymax!!
Looks are a matter of personal preference, I think the Forza look is classy, best of the 300 maxi bunch imo.
After the Forza I like the Joymax, then the Downtown, then the S3 Advance, last is the J300.
But please, can we have some proper colours, wtf is it with the white, black and grey?
Yes I know the J300 can be had with some green flashes on it, but to me that just makes it look worse.
Idle stop would have been nice on the Forza and as per the SH300 the rear caliper location could be better.
My preference would have been a drum rear brake.
No need to check Sym website for details of idlestop on the Joymax, just read the first page of this thread

Re: Max joy from my Joymax!!
Not sure about the Joymax, but on the PCX the idlestop is triggered by the speed, not the brake levers.
You can stop, release the brakes and it still goes into standby.
If you practice a lot you can get it to cut out while still barely rolling along with your feet up and start it and ride away without ever puting a foot down.
Anywho, since when did brakes get hot in slow moving heavy congestion?
Its braking from speed what heats them up.
