Had to fit a new exhaust/silencer graphite gasket today. What a PITA job that was. Splayed the silencer open with a socket to fit the graphite gasket in but then couldn't get the new clamp over it. Must have taken an hour to do such a simple job and had left the ignition on whilst messing about and flattened the battery! All done now though.

Not just today, but over the last couple of days since I picked her up (X9 500 Evo), but completed today apart from the tyres.

Oil change (transmission & engine) with new Hiflo filter (what a bastard to get the old filter off!), Brisk plug, RamAir foam filter, Kyoto rear pads, silencer gasket (mine slipped in real easy!), refreshed brake fluid, wheels off to take for new City Grips (80 quid the pair delivered from oponeo.com) to get fitted tomorrow.

Nice to work on a bike that's had decent coppaslip use, though I did have to drill out one pair of the brake reservoir screws. Just got a general clean of the front brakes to do, whilst the wheel is off.

Only frustration is the battery keeps getting a red light from the Optimate, so maybe will need a new one, plus the Service reset button is disconnected, so no way to stop the flashing warnings.

good on ya.. so you managed to foam the rectangle filter great, oil filter grip pliers are what i have to use as there is not a lot of space between the cover and filter,, will be a sorted ride

Oh you little mind-reader, tried in vain for ages with my oil wrench (chain type) ended up buying the mega pincers type from Halfords before I'd mangled it too badly. Very happy as it got it off quite easily, once I had my wife hold the scoot, as it was sliding sideways on the centrestand.

The foam sheet was near perfect length, so just needed a single cut and minor trimming. I could get 3 filters from a single £4.99 sheet.

Hopefully fires up and goes well tommorrow, when I've got the wheels back on.

Started off trying to change the belt on my Mana. Stripped it all down and when it came to the left bolt on the variator would not bugde (even with 2 impact guns, mine a 24v cheap one and my dads snap on) so had to put back together as we needed a variator holding tool. So I can either have a shop do the work 3 x £60 an hour or fork out for the tool.

Fitted my panniers to the bike and god how wide is it now, going to have to take care for the first week so I don't damage them. Bought them for camping and Belgium.

just made a variator holding tool today for the Majesty, 8mm pins but easy to make pins of any size. Pop down and have a lend.
Tank of petrol is far cheaper than garage time.

Piled lots of tools on it. It hasn't been out for some time.

refurb both front calipers after winter and fitted LED Indicator Resistors for the front two indicators as they were flashing too fast, ordered rear pads and will do them and refurb the rear caliper once it comes bring on the sun, been lovely outside today makes jobs a lot more pleasant as i have to work on scoot outside

Today i fitted my new luggage to the srv and made sure of any needed adjustments or straps and fixings worked ok.I then fitted some high density very soft foam to the backs just to make sure there will be no damage if they happen to rub ( especially after i have repainted it shortly ) . These are 60l and made by a company called autokiker and after inspection i must say i am very pleased with them . Once they were fitted i took a couple of measurements just in case anyone is interested max width of scoot at mirrors is 900 mm bags not expanded 950mm and 1150 mm expanded .One very nice feature on these panniers is the hot/cold pockets which will hold a 230mm x100mm flask or bottle or you could just tip your stew directly into the pocket and eat later lol .
