And cheaper.
Much cheaper.
Cheap is not always a good choice. Example, son was setting up new home, I suggested new kettle similar to ours at it had lasted over 7 years and currently only costs £35. Instead he went for the cheaper model, £20, which lasted only 2 years. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
Until I see and test the new BMW I will not know if the extra cost is worth it. Seeing the recent problems with the Honda SH300 I am not impressed with that build.
Hang on though, do you use the kettle as much as your son does? maybe he's using his 10 times more than you do, hence short life span. How about water quality you two are using? His might be tap water in a hard water area whereas yours might be bottled or filtered water
Just messing with you

but you still would need to factor in other aspects when comparing like for like.

The news story is that BMW have the first scooter retailing at over ten thousand pounds.
Yes, you can get the base one for under ten grand, that isn't the point.
The point is that there is one over ten grand.
Simple enough to understand for anyone with half a brain.
Well - not really! Its a bit of an obscure claim to fame that if you buy a scooter with a package of options it'll costs more than £10K. I suspect (but haven't checked) that if you bought every option Yamaha list for the TMax, including the lap cover, luggage, wind deflectors, outrageously expensive heated grips etc, then the TMax's price might be over £10K, but so what? And if Yamaha offer an Akropovic exhaust as an official option, then you may be able to spend even more on one. When BMW get their full list of options sorted, you could probably spend the best part of £12K on a C650

A better question would be the price with comparable options.
Eg: scooter A with ABS, screen, top box
Scooter B with ABS, screen, top box
Whether these are options, or come standard, that's surely a better indicator of value to money / cost of a badge?
