Great Idea
A 'rolling roadshow'
Great for those who can attend at the time/venue but what about at other times?
Thanks for the feedback

Re: New Sym??
For me, if you could get to about 20 locations through out the country in at least spring and autumn, I would drive/ride to my nearest location to have a go. But sadly not many people are willing to do even that.
Of course it would help if SYM did a sports oriented TMax like scooter

Re: New Sym??
What about a day for journalists, representatives from the forums and invited guests. It would get people taking SYM and spreading the word on new models. Given the spec and price you could end up with a winner with the 600. However if people have not heard about it, it won't sell. I went to one dealer to get a part for my Max and they had not heard about it they kept thinking I was talking about a Joymax. In the end I invited them outside to have a look. They liked it but complained I had not ordered it from them (I wonder why).

Re: New Sym??
I think thats a good idea actually - Honda and Suzuki do something similar, as did Aprilia. It would offer us potential buyers a chance to actually see and try products in the absence of any dealer stock, let alone demonstrators. Also, in the case of Sym, many of their dealers (round here anyway) seem like relatively small places (ie a workshop with a small showroom attached) who are never going to hold much stock unless its a few 50s that they can guarantee to turn around in a few weeks (and not cost a fortune to buy). I guess the snag is with the current situation is that importers can't force dealers to buy demonstrators. However, it seems BMW have a different relationship to their dealersmelpotter wrote: Have you considered touring your own fleet of test maxis around your dealer network, maybe having a demo day in each where interested buyers could sign up in advance for a test ride on the day in a similar way to the car manufactures?

Re: New Sym??
Tricky one. I'd have to be pretty sure I wanted a scoot before I'd pay out £100...but if I was that sure, I'd probably have bought one! I've seen the negative comments on here, which I understand. There again, it maybe the only way to get test rides.SYMUK wrote:
I would like the forum to consider the suggestion of a 'try before you buy' scheme where a nominal hire fee is paid to partially cover our costs of delivering a machine to local dealer for the potential buyer to test ride.
This nominal fee would be fully refundable upon purchase within say a three month period.
If we said the fee should be £100 - what does the forum members think of the suggestion?

If you want to be incrementally better: Be competitive. If you want to be exponentially better: Be cooperative.

Re: New Sym??
For me SYM has lost it's biggest advantage over the competitors... Price. My SYM GTS 250i in 2008 cost £2999, whilst the other competitors were £700-1000+ more. Now with the three years of servicing to keep the warranty valid the price was still a lot less than the rivals. The servicing was more of a time than price constraint. But now to get the closest equivalent SYM model, the Joymax 300 it will cost me £1300 more.
The service intervals need to be longer as now the competitors service intervals are getting longer and longer whilst SYM's have barely changed. The manuals are badly translated, the website incorrect - even had a pic of the Kymco Downtown once for the Maxsym I believe!!!. Right now even the Joymax still has the SYM GTS evo specs up instead , the GTS evo was dropped ages ago now!
Now i've owned four SYM's in the last ten years from new but now I have no interest in purchasing another one of your products. Poor value now - prices to close to competitors, service intervals to short - competitors much longer, incorrect website- Honda, Suzuki, Piaggio etc are correct and up to date, parts getting more expensive - noticed this with my SYM over the last few years and the manual is very poorly translated.
Now the price wouldn't be so bad if the other points were sorted. But until then I won't be buying another SYM. Which is a shame, as my GTS has been ultra reliable in my five and a half years of ownership.
