Re: Maxsym 600
Two years ago after owning motorcycles for 34 years I decided I would like a scooter (Joyride 200i EVO). I travelled some 40 miles to a dealer who was really helpful. He had a year old one which he let me test ride then a deal was done on a new one. I already had my eye on the Maxsym 400 so after a year of owning the Joyride I decided to change. I must admit I did buy this blind only having seen and read various tests on the internet. It is a decision I have not regretted and will certainly be looking at the 600 when I decide to change. I have been really impressed with the build quality of SYM. Phil

I'm sure it won't be long before Givi have a rack for the 600i as I'm sure this machine will sell well in Europe.

Givi screen and rack and Shad top box and rack are the same fitting on the 400 and 600

To SymUk. It was Bolton Motorcycles (formerly Doug Hacking) that were most adamant that i order the 600 unseen, one of the reasons i will not be visiting them again. I have been visiting Doug Hacking for 50yrs. I have visited Robinsons of Rochdale, another local dealer, now under the Moto GB brand, They had a 400 in but no sign of a 600. That was two weeks ago. I was going to arrange my Burgman 650 test ride with them in the near future. The Tmax looks very pricey for a basic bike

You should also tell SYM UK so they cam add it to the (hopeless mkII) website. I know they had a revamp, and yes IMO it's even worse than the last one. In fact the only problem I had with the first one with the inaccurate data (263cc for the new Maxsym 300 etc), all people really want from a website about a product is the correct information and the options and accessories.spaceprobe wrote:Givi screen and rack and Shad top box and rack are the same fitting on the 400 and 600
I actually researched Burgman 400 accessories last year just to compare - I went looking for panniers, I found that only Fehling did them and that was all - I was underwhelmed with what I could find for such a long lived design.
The X10 site isn't too bad, it gives you tech info etc, brochures and then a link to its very own site:
http://www.uk.piaggio.com/piaggio/UK/en ... utive.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The tech being here as a simple PDF: http://www.uk.piaggio.com/piaggio/UK/en ... 10_350.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Then you click on the X10 site and accessories and you get a proper list: http://www.piaggiox10.com/#lang/en/accessories" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I also just found out I can get a topbox inner bag! Not seeing the point of that one though - but at least it is listed

Re: Maxsym 600
Today I got in contact with MotorCycle Live and the very lovely Penny gave me the lowdown on the costs, which is cheaper if SYM is a member of the MCI (Motor Cycle Industry Association), else it is about £110/m2 for non-member trade space for the show duration, with stands starting at 3m x 3m (9m2) - or £990. A motorcycle club (fancy making a club?) is £601 (or free if you sell 100 tickets to your members) instead for that sizeData wrote:I will say to Globs, that renting space at the NEC and other exhibition centres is very costly for small firms. We exhibited at an engineering show some years ago and it cost us £18k for just a very small area.
3m x 3m is not huge - perhaps two bikes + 1-2 staff, maybe the Maxsym 300 and the Allo 125cc but it's under £1000 - not huge money.

Re: Maxsym 600
Honda's own site quotes the price at £6999 and the Maxsym is £5999, which is not really the same price! OK, it's got a Honda badge, but with all the positive comments on SYM, and now on my second one, I certainly don't think I have purchased an inferior machine. And it's up to date with plenty of nice touches that would be classed as extra from the japanese machines. OK SYM UK have a few issues but at least they are talking to us on here and trying there best to get things fixed that people have asked for! Where are the representatives from the other importers?gn2 wrote:Well in the real world they are about the same price.Drago wrote:Just pointing out the fact the Maxsym does have some advantages over it - Grand less, bigger brakes and wheels.
Can't remember reading comments by Silverwing owners complaining about the wheels not being big enough or the brakes being inadequate...?
Bigger rear wheel means reduced storage.
Two discs at the front just means an extra caliper to service.
Are the Maxsym's brakes linked?
How many pistons per front caliper?
How many pistons per rear caliper?
Sym has four at the front one at the rear for a total of five
Honda has three at the front two at the rear for a total of five
I'm just guessing but I would be very surprised if the Maxsym 600 had significantly better braking performance or better brake balance than a Silverwing.
enjoy eXtra to the Max
