Its not a bad idea in theory given the acknowledged logistical costs, but the reality is that a freebie is always preferable
The roadshow idea could be a winner, if there was the opportunity to test ride Sym's 300, 400 and 600 maxiscooters in Edinburgh all on the same day, and it was free, I would definitely make the trip down.
A friend in France wanted to buy a Peugeot convertible.
The salesman said that they were too rare to have a demonstrator but he'd sold one recently, drove round to the customers house to see it. The owner handed over the keys saying take it for whiz - and had an aperitif and nibbles ready in the garden when they got back, just out of kindness. Different world.
I wonder how much incentive it would take to get a customer in the UK to loan a bike? Or at least have it there to look at.
WE ARE THE BURG resistance is futile
The Ugly Bunch-1
SYM UK IMHO you could well have attended cop dock with a small display recently .I say this judging by the amount of interest the burgmans and tmax xmax etc were getting on there trade stands or you could quite easily asked one of your dealers who were in attendance IE ENFILD sellers to have a few syms on there stand . This would be cost effective . I would have thought also a bit more competitive on price would really help in this economic bad times . What happened to motogb`s stack them high sell them cheaper system .
I think we need to keep things in perspective and I personally think it's great to have a distributer engaging with us direct on here. I don't fully understand this price thing, countries like Taiwan and South Korea are industrial nations not Third world countries so why assume their prices should be barging basement. For example Samsung and LG washing machines more expensive than most German models. Or Kia cars not that much cheaper than a VW but held in good stead. I have also mentioned this before but when I went to my local piagio dealer to look at an X10 I was told good luck with finding any dealer in the South East that would have a demo machine because of the cost factors. He then did he best to talk me out of an X10 because they were overpriced. Sadly the UK market is small for maxi scooters and I expect this is reflected in availability and price. If you look at the international reviews for the Maxsym for example they are all very positive in terms of quality and value for money without being hugely cheaper than here.
Thanks for coming on the forum with the extra information about your pending new 600i scoot. In my view, it's just what's needed and can only encourage more bikers onto maxi scooters! I'm one of those interested to see one and indeed to try one when they are available. I'm prepared to travel if needed, but would want a local dealer to look after it for me during warranty. Will just about any Sym dealer be capable of working on the 600i to maintain warranty and if needed to carry out warranty work? I know there are factory courses to complete on these things before techs are let loose. They all cost I'm sure. Thanks again...looking forward to seeing the actual bike at a dealership somewhere.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!
Been riding for 55 years & owned too many bikes to list here...

SYMUK welcome to the site and thanks for posting, maybe just maybe if enough ppl could get together in the same place they could cough up £10 or less each to make up the £100 cost involved.
I have a Burg 650 and would be interested in the new Sym 600
Seems that you folks have the same "Chicken or Egg" dilemma that we have here in California. The only way you can test drive almost ANY two-wheeled vehicle here is to find a Used example at a Dealer. I had NO desire to own a Tmax, as I was a happy Majesty 400 owner. Then my brother, a Burgman 650 and SYM Citycom 300 owner, test rode a used one and said " Everything has CHANGED. You HAVE to ride this Tmax!" I did, he was right, and now we both have 2009 Tmaxes. ONLY because one was available to test ride.
BMW is selling a SHITLOAD of C650Gt's and C600Sports here, to THEIR existing Clientele, who see them, are intrigued, RIDE THEM and then BUY THEM!
My brother's Citycom 300 was a BRILLIANT little machine! made his previous first scoot, an Aprilia SportCity 250, seem cheap and primitive in comparison, for HALF the price. How did he end up with a Citycom when there was NO DEALER NETWORK in the USA? Some BOAT dealership had been a Dealer for SYM (!) and had a few NOS bikes they were blowing-out for pennies. He test rode it (!) and then BOUGHT it.
SYM needs to Put Up or Shut Up and get those Scoots out there to ride....
2009 Tmax with OODLES of upgrades!
2009 Majesty 400 (sold)
2007 Aprilia Mojito 150 (sold)
