Steve as Horobags said, Valletta is the 2018 European Capital of Culture and is full of interesting things to do, 5 hours wont be enough. The Maltese Experience [google it] is a must and will fill you in on most of the history.
I'm more than happy to meet you at the cruise ship dock gates [if I'm in Malta] and show you around, don't get a taxi or bus from the dock to Vallettar there's a lift [small fee] just up the road that takes you up into Valletta via the Upper Barrakka Gardens.

Muppets coming. bring a valid credit card and licence for the scooter hire, sun cream and sun glasses.....it's already hot and sunny.
I've enlisted my other half to help me pick you up from you hotels to get you to the dinner on Thursday night, pick up 7.30. Sorry but you will need to make your own way back as I intend to have a class of wine [or 2] getting back to your respected hotels is a bit of a walk but no doubt you will find a bar or two on the way.

Harvey, I take it your mate is staying in the same hotel as you?

Thanks all for the advice. Wish I’d have booked flights either a couple of days before or after the cruise now. Never mind, gives us somewhere to go back to at a later date.
