Whilst I am very pleased with the Silverwing, backing it through the garage into the back yard and then into the shed is a nightmare and I have had several close shaves with various obstacles on route. It is mainly the side panels that are in danger of getting scuffed so I thought that I would try the fehling rear crash bars. The bars are no longer in production for the fjs600 but I had no problem finding old stock in the uk (probably an indication of their lack of appeal over here). Having got the bars I offered them up to the bike and with the silver finish on the grab rail and the pillion rest plates it did look a bit garish imo. I bought a second hand rail and plates off ebay and sprayed them satin black and tried the bars again and the effect is a lot better imo. Fitting the bars was a bit of a nightmare, essentially the set comprises a wrap round tube to the rear and then the two slip on side pieces the whole is then bolted to the frame and the foot plates getting both sides to line up equally and for the mounting lugs to lie flush proved difficult without distortion so ended up making some additional spacers which seem to have solved the problem. Now they are on I am pleased with the results the only concern is that as they protrude will they restrict the pillion rests, visually it looks ok but will go for a test ride with the missus next time the sun shines.

Rode back from Penzance today after a couple of days visiting in the area. Weather was atrocious on the way home but the Burgman took it all in its stride.

X9 is in many bits sorting a snapped seat release cable. Many other jobs to do whilst panels are off.
