Licenced to confuse

Looking at the MCN website, I noticed this.
Not sure if anyone else has heard about the new licence rules but they seem a bit confusing.
A long haul for a young person to get their full licence, so I'm glad I passed my test in the mid 70's

The current rules are confusing too.
If people want to ride, they will, licensing restrictions won't put them off.
The biggest problem is that there are very very few decent mid-size (200-500cc) two wheelers these days.

That's true, but how many drivers under 21 do you see in high performance cars?

Exactly. Seems it's fine for new drivers to drive round in vehicles they can't control because they tend to fuck others up not themselves

The new rules make me wonder what Piaggio are doing in launching a new 33hp scooter engine. Surely it will either be short-lived or lose out to other manufacturers who will be offering higher-powered models in the same licence category?
BTW, new drivers get penalised by having their licence limited to only 6 points before they lose it.

The same as new bikers then, only without the power restrictions
