Hi all, anyone got any tips on how to fit a centre stand

I can do it the only problem I have is the bloody springs

they were a twat to get on last time but thanks to clive it go done

the reason I want to re fit the centre stand was due to a pin snapping off the bracket (not the stand ) leaving the spring on the floor

luckily I have a spare bracket so no cost to re fit thank god, so any tips on fitting a double spring back on

Isn't there some trick using 2p coins to lock the inner spring and stretch it, I'm sure a more knowledgeable muppet will be along soon!

Try putting the springs in place before fitting the fixing bolts, pull the stand into position, put the bolt through the easy side and then do the other side. I don't usually have to stretch the springs with pliers etc. The problem is that the stand is probably the first thing fitted on a new bike build, so it's much easier without all the other bits on the bike. It can be easier to fit in the up position. You may need screwdrivers and drifts to help you.
Have a first aid kit open and ready.

Easy. Fit the outer spring then feed the inner one through inside it and fit that. Don't try to stretch both at once.
Use a t-bar with a hook or grip the wire above the hook bend with mole grips. The inner spring is quite easy.

This was what I was alluding to before the "penny technique".
No idea if this would help for fitting but the theory of stretching the spring to fit still applies I guess.
