i have seen and fallen for a px125 (i think)
what are the pros and cons of them verses the gt i have already
bearing in mind i love the gt and dont really want to get rid but
the px is a proper vespa wiv gears and as i dont use the vespa for commuting now its not so much of a hassle and i dont do the long distance stuff like i used to so the engine size isnt an issue
thought i would ask you lot as you are quite knolageable
what would you do

Keep the GT, you don't want to sell it and it looks to me that you would be buying a PX purely for the image of being a "proper" Vespa.
News just in....
The PX is a heap of shite compared to a modern Vespa.

OK, the pros and cons of a PX over a GT....
Maintanence, the PX is the easiest scooter to maintain, DIY servicing is so easy and every 3000 miles wil cost you a spark plug, some gear oil and fuel/oil mix to clean and relube the air filter. Oh and a little grease!
The PX will also rot less, on the GT/GTS there are many rust traps whereas on a PX its easier to keep the rust away.
The PX will hold its value better.
The PX has a spare wheel, and tyre changes are both cheap and easily done at home.
The Cons are obvious,
The GT will outhandle, out performe, be more comfortable and brake better than a PX. But you know that!
Ive owned both, but have neither now as Im smitten by the Maxi scoots.... but, if I were in your position it would be a PX all the way.

interesting barry, Ive just got my MZ 125 on the road, and I'm loving the lightweight, ease of maintainance, and character, you picking the px, makes me think, 20 years ago I'd say my MZ is shit slow, and you'd probably say pick the GT because its faster, as we " matuer" our priorities change,

the PX is a truely classic scooter, I'd love one.

if the px is going to be used just to for the ride around town, or even on a rideout with a local scooter club then stick with the px,
its not all about speed and handling, posing is also important
i enjoy my px for it being unpredictable and being able to work on it and customise it,
don't listen to gn2, he is anti-classic everything, hes the sort of bloke who will throw away food before the best before date because its 'getting old'

No he's not.
He will eat anything that's fit to eat irrespective of the date on it because he grew up in a time before food had dates on it so learned how to tell if food is off or not.
If anything's past it's sell-by date it's the Vespa PX, as illustrated by the sales figures...

You're right Barry, it's been done to death already, I should really know better by now.
