BMW have arrived in the UK scooter market with a UK first, the Ten Grand Scooter (TGS)
You would have to be seriously mental to buy one at that price.

Makes the well equipped Burgman 650 look like a relative bargain, even though it's design is getting a bit old, we'll see what next year brings from Suzuki.
However could this be a point where the other manufacturers see this as an excuse to follow and raise their prices on future models?

Splitting hairs, perhaps, but the 650 GT does not cost over £10,000.00.
Not everyone wants heated grips, heated seats and so on so one can buy it for £9,705.00.
It's still a great deal of money but please get the facts right.

Any idea where they are made, with BMW's the quality does vary, the G650GS is made in India, I can't see the scoots coming out well in a Tmax- Burgman-Silverwing shootout, that the magazines will be running soon.
I decided to keep my Burgman (10,000 miles not a mark on it, and no problems), and buy a 125 xevo to keep it company.

The BMWs are made in Berlin, but the engines are made in Taiwan by Kymco

Its not that far off what we expected...the C600 basic is £9400 so £500 more than the Tmax but with 13 extra bhp and ABS and other gizmos, whilst the C650GT basic is £9700.
I note that MCN make no reference to their predictions of £7300 and £7800......
Its a lot of money ain't it!!!
I'm getting the impression from the tests I've read that the BMWs are good (out of town anyway), but they kind of sound like they match the TMax but don't set a whole new benchmark (except for the price!)

My car only cost £12,000
I subscribe to the cheap-is-better ideal, and if you get everything you need from a scooter that's £2-3000, how much more do you get for double or tripling that? Fair enough if you are going to keep it for a while, then depreciation dosent matter really, so does 10 grand get you massive reliability and low long term cost of ownership?
