On the heels of the Aprilia SRV850 and Piaggio X10, Piaggio UK have sneaked in under the radar the re-introduction of the MP3 500ie, this time as an LT Sport version.

Sporting a matt finish this version will be on sale at £6299 otr.... think there might be a touring version too....

Very nice, especially the matt finish.

A mate of mine (ex HD rider with a bad foot that is getting no better) has just bought one. I will feedback when I hear he's taken delivery. :D

It does annoy me that the EU are getting tougher on the bike test but allow this MP3 LT nonsense for car drivers with no bike training whatsoever, where's the sense in that???

Nice to see the guy in the photo is wearing so much protective gear too.....

He's probably wearing a condom! What more do you need?

Paul at MoTech my local Piaggio dealer said that they were waiting for this to arrive as their demo. He also had a call from a local University Professor that wanted to test ride it, but he had to politly refuse him as although advertised as drive on a car license, the guy had never ridden a motorised bike in his life and wanted to ride a 500cc instantly..... Paul did say he would ride the bike with him as the pillion.

In theory this license rule sounds good and although not needed some form of initial training surely must be given?

Still prefer the looks of the Fuoco but it seems Piaggio are intent on killing off the Gilera brand.

If it's not needed why should it be given?
I'm old enough to remember being able to buy a screaming 250 two stroke at 17 and ride away on it without ever having ridden before or having any training of any kind.
In comparison to that, someone with a car licence on an LT is positively safe.

I've never had any training and can ride any auto which obviously means the 850's. I started on 50cc mopeds for a year then did a CBT to ride a 125 then passed the A2 auto test without taking a single lesson.
