New Gloves
Bought myself a new pair of leather summer gloves, now I've never been one for aplying dubbing or anything to prolong the life span of my gloves in the past, but does anyone have any tips for me to use with these?

Re: New Gloves
I do mine with Renapur Leather Balsam; I bought it at one of the shows (Ideal Home or Boat Show, I forget which).
It is very good - easy to apply, does what it says on the pot and restored the colour.

Adds some waterproofing too although not as waterproof as textiles naturally.

Errrm...don't bother??? I never have, and I still occasionally use a pair of gloves I bought 11 years ago (though they do look very faded now).

Re: New Gloves
One of the important factors in treating leather clothing is the protection of the stitching; leather may stand up to abuse, especially getting wet, but natural-fibre thread won't.
Seen it all too often with the children and their football boots.
Add to that, the 'treatment' bungs up the holes where the thread goes through so prevents water seeping in there.

Re: New Gloves
I'm not bothered about them fading I just want to prevent perishment or cracking, but I agree I had a £30 pair for 10 years, then they eventually grew a hole in a finger tip, I then bought a pair of Alpine stars they lasted 18 monthsMrGrumpy wrote:Earl wrote:Bought myself a new pair of leather summer gloves, now I've never been one for aplying dubbing or anything to prolong the life span of my gloves in the past, but does anyone have any tips for me to use with these?
