Well not yet antway, but went to look at the Honda ugly scoot today and i must say it is better in the flesh than in the pics, no test ride as all booked up for the day but next week some time. They offered me £4,400 to £4,700 for my Burger without even seeing it so if anyone wants an 09 650Exec with 8 1/2 thou full dealer service shout up qwik.

Well, its certainly ugly, but whether its a scoot or not is open to question!!!

A quick rundown on my test ride of the Honda ugly scoot ( Integra ).
Looks, not bad by modern standards nice and clean looking be nothing to
shout home about, run of the mill looks.
Not a lot of space under the seat in fact only enough for an open face
helmet and not a large size either. One tiny glove box on the left and

Pillion has bike type foot pegs and the rider has foot boards and not very
large boards, if you like the feet forward riding style and you are a six footer
you will struggle to find a sweet spot for your feet.
Build quality is up to Honda standards ( I thought very good ) plastics feel
solid and no rattles or creeks. Screen is slim with one of those pressure
equalising holes part way up ( works well ) no wind deflectors for the
hands, my hands did feel cold by I got back. Heated grips are extra Honda
grips are £227…they are the same as the grips I have factory fitted on the
Burger Exec, also same as the Yamaha grips I bought for the T-Max and they
were £90 more expensive. Honda luggage is about £1400 Givi about £800,
at least a top box WILL be needed as said next to no storage as standard.
Riding.
Well, I am comparing it with the T-Max and the Burger here as they are the
two bikes I Can compare with.
Feel, the first thing I noticed was how lithe it felt, it is noticeably slimmer than
the Burgman and also I think the T-Max, it also felt a lot lighter to me even if it
is only a few Kls lighter. It went just where it was pointed with no nastiness to
report, again bare in mind this was a new bike with only 180 miles on it so i
was not about to thrash it. I did town and country and it handles very well, the
large wheels help over the pot holes.
Now that engine!
When it came off cold start it idled smoothly with just a note of twin to be heard
once you have the gear selection routine in your head you can select either auto
or manual, I choose auto to start off. On start up it sits in neutral and you select first
gear or drive, it goes into gear with a nice little clunk. It is very noticeable now
little revs are needed on pulling away, the motor sounds very different to the normal
single or twin. This is to do with the odd crankshaft it has. On the move you notice
the sound/feel of the engine: sounds/feels like a big lazy twin of a cruiser :>)
Unless you band the throttle open wide you do not notice the gear changes unless
you look at the clocks. Oh! yes the clocks, only one small meter to view and it looks
very small after the burger but all info is there for you to see very easily.
Lights. I cannot comment as it was day light but it has the Honda single headlamp.
I think it would take a while to get used to this motor/gearbox as it is SO very
different to the norm, but with 70 odd MPG it could be the way a lot more go.
Is it a better bike than the Big Burger! it IS different I know that, but better!
the burger does have it’s little ways, one is the utter crap fuelling at low speeds
we have had to put up with it since they came out and nothing has altered. The
Honda’s fuelling was perfect.
Changes I would HAVE to make if I bought one.
Exhaust is just too silent for me, the motor sounds nice in an odd way with it’s
off round sound.
What did I NOT like.
One thing apart from the rider foot boards and that is the roll on throttle, if
you are plodding along at say 40mph and open the throttle wide it takes a
seconds or two for anything to happen. I do not know if this was to do with
this learning computer thing or not, but it was a little disconcerting a bit like
the lag you used to get with the early turbo cars.
Overall I liked the bike more than I thought I would, now do I go for it or not!
I have been offered £4,700 for my 09Burger Exec, that leaves £2,800 to pay
for a brand new bike with 2 years warranty…
My bike needs it’s first MOT next month, shortly after that it will need a front tyre.
Plus by the end of this year it will need the BIG service that runs at close to £600…
I have every confidence in my Burger and would jump on it to go any distance with
out fear….do I need a new bike….!!! could I get used to the short shifting gear box!
70MPG does sound nice with fuel at £1.49p lt….

Thanks - interesting. Did you try 'Sport' mode? I've read in mags that its a bit sludgy in normal mode.
btw MCM have a long term test of the N700X (manual). You can get up to 75mpg apparently, but if you start riding it enthusiastically it drops into the 50s!

One thing I really want to know though is -was it actually FUN to ride? Every test and article I read says how worthy it is, but I never get the impression that anyone really enjoys riding it!

I think it could be good fun, i had a good time around some bendy bits of road i hunted out but it had been hissing down and the roads were still very wet
so i did not push too hard. It is a Honda and they just seem to do what it says on the tin, the motor is the thing that interested me thou, it sounded so odd,
not bad just very different, i have been doing some searching on the net and it is a very odd setup. they have twisted the crank to get an uneven firing cycle
the two sets of valves are timed differently, one for torq and one for power...Oh! and Honda must have noted how silent the thing is as they have brought out
a Titanium slip-on can for it already tis £550 so they want sell many of those..I will get the thinking head on after as i did note lots of stuff i was going
to coment on but most i forgot whilst enjoying the ride

Update:
Almost forgot, being a computer controlled gearbox you have no need to hold in the clutch/break leavers as it always starts in neutral.
The hand brake is on the right side bodywork as with the Burger and i think the SilverWing. Fuel filler is under the rider seat, pillion seat is bolted on with two visible bolts so maybe a tiny bit of room on top of or at the sides of the tank for StarComm or the like.

It's not at all odd or new.
Yamaha's TRX had a 270 crank and Triumph have a few bikes with 270 cranks.
The only reason for it is to make it sound and feel like a v-twin.
Which is stupid really, they should have tried to make it as smooth and vibration free as possible.

Like you said the luggage will add almost £1K to the price, Dont forget to factor that into the total
I thought I was the only one to notice the very uneven fuelling on the 650 Burg about 30-40 mph its all over the place, wonder if a Power Commander would fix it ?
