I was in The Rocket Centre in Blackburn last week and i saw a large scooter in the showroom. I think it was a Piaggio, anyway it was an 850cc and it was chain drive. I personally didn't care for it, no front cubbie holes and just seemed not complete somehow.

It won't be a Piaggio.

It'll be the Gilera GP800 or the Aprilia SRV850.

Technically, either of those brand names actually are Piaggio as the Piaggio Group owns them both...but I know what you mean.

The Gilera was badged as an 800,by the way, even though it and the Aprilia share the same 839.9cc engine.

I think either of them would be fantastic fun as blaster bikes and sportsbike embarrassers but like the OP I also don`t rate the chain drive and don`t see them as 'practical' maxi scoots.

Presumably you mean the 650 Burgman then - you can't be talking about a GP800
